## Overview

The dKargo project was founded by Deleo, a South Korean IT company specializing in cross-border logistics, with the mission to build a blockchain-based platform to address trust and efficiency issues within the global logistics industry. The initial goal was to use [blockchain](https://iq.wiki/wiki/blockchain) technology and a token-based economy to connect fragmented participants and create a transparent, reliable, and collaborative logistics network. By providing a single, tamper-proof source of truth for logistics data, the project aimed to solve common problems related to data silos and a lack of credibility between parties. ### Layer 3 on Arbitrum

dKargo operates as a Layer 3 blockchain, or "AppChain," built using the [Arbitrum](https://iq.wiki/wiki/arbitrum) Orbit framework. This framework allows for the creation of customizable blockchains that settle their transactions to an [Arbitrum](https://iq.wiki/wiki/arbitrum) Layer 2 chain, such as [Arbitrum](https://iq.wiki/wiki/arbitrum) One or Nova. This hierarchical structure enables dKargo to offload transaction processing from the more congested and expensive Layer 1 ([Ethereum](https://iq.wiki/wiki/ethereum)) and Layer 2 networks. ### Data Availability Model (AnyTrust)

dKargo utilizes [Arbitrum's](https://iq.wiki/wiki/arbitrum) AnyTrust data availability technology. AnyTrust chains operate with a Data Availability Committee (DAC). This committee assumes responsibility for storing transaction data and providing it upon request. This model significantly reduces transaction costs because data is not posted on-chain by default, only the hash of the data is.
