## Career

Before entering the cryptocurrency industry, Zhang gained several years of experience in banking, investment, and big data analytics. In August 2013 he worked at Citibank as a VP until July 2015. He then became an early team member at the [cryptocurrency](https://iq.wiki/wiki/cryptocurrency) exchange [Binance](https://iq.wiki/wiki/binance), where he held multiple executive roles, including Head of [Binance](https://iq.wiki/wiki/binance) Research and Head of Launchpad. In his capacity at [Binance](https://iq.wiki/wiki/binance) Research, he focused on providing data-driven analysis for investors with a stated goal of increasing transparency and improving the quality of information within the crypto ecosystem. In 2020, Zhang was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the data aggregator [CoinMarketCap](https://iq.wiki/wiki/coinmarketcap), a position he held until 2021.
