## Interviews

#### Ishank Gupta on User Verification and Reputation #01

On December 1, 2025, Ishank Gupta, co-founder of [KGeN](https://iq.wiki/wiki/kgen), appeared in an interview on the [Aptos](https://iq.wiki/wiki/aptos) Network YouTube channel, hosted by Marissa Trew of Aptos Labs. The discussion covered KGeN's user verification system, reputation assessment, user acquisition methods, and approach to token economics across [decentralized finance](https://iq.wiki/wiki/defi) (DeFi), gaming, artificial intelligence (AI), and consumer applications.

Gupta described [KGeN](https://iq.wiki/wiki/kgen) as a platform that connects projects with users whose identities and activity can be assessed through a reputation system. He explained that its Proof of Gamified Engagement (POGY) framework operates on Aptos and combines five categories of information: human identity, skills, commercial activity, network relationships, and engagement. According to Gupta, these categories contribute to a reputation score that projects can use when evaluating potential users. He also acknowledged that verifying users across an expanding network remains an ongoing process.

During the interview, Gupta distinguished between individuals who use a product and those who participate primarily for potential financial returns from tokens. He stated that this distinction informs [KGeN's](https://iq.wiki/wiki/kgen) approach to incentives and airdrops, which he described as rewards for existing users and community members who contribute to a project's adoption. He also discussed the company's use of community leaders, referred to as "clan chiefs," and integrations with Web2 applications to attract users and encourage continued participation.

Gupta outlined three areas of [KGeN's](https://iq.wiki/wiki/kgen) operations: user acquisition campaigns through KGeN Engage, retention protocols for Web2 applications, and the KGeN Store. He explained that these products use a shared reputation system to support different forms of user interaction and commercial activity. According to his account, on-chain records are intended to make reputation information verifiable and resistant to unauthorized modification, allowing projects to evaluate users using recorded activity data.

On token economics, Gupta stated that [KGeN's](https://iq.wiki/wiki/kgen) business operations were designed to generate revenue independently of a token launch. He described the proposed token as a means of distributing economic participation among users, customers, and other network participants. In his view, introducing a token after establishing revenue-generating operations could provide additional incentives for network growth. He did not provide a launch date during the interview.

Gupta also discussed the development of [Web3](https://iq.wiki/wiki/web3) businesses, arguing that founders should focus on building products and revenue-generating operations over the long term rather than attempting to identify ideal market conditions. He presented this position as a lesson drawn from [KGeN's](https://iq.wiki/wiki/kgen) development and his experience in the technology sector. [\[7\]](#cite-id-KNbhr9QikiB3qaMq)
