Interviews
The Web3 Talks
In this interview, financial expert Maria Spartalis discussed her extensive career in traditional banking and its intersection with the evolving world of cryptocurrency and blockchain. Beginning her career in Ukraine and moving to Austria, she worked with high-net-worth clients in several European banks, including Credit Suisse. She reflected on the transition from traditional banking practices, such as the end of banking secrecy in Europe, to the rise of cryptocurrencies, which offer more privacy and freedom for asset management but also introduce challenges around regulation and fraud. [6]
Spartalis argued that while the emergence of crypto has led to financial democratization, it also comes with increased risks, such as scams and fraud. She believes that proper regulation will eventually make the crypto space more stable, reducing its speculative nature. She also highlighted the potential of blockchain beyond finance, mentioning its impact on various industries like pharmaceuticals, cinema, and technology. Concluding the interview, Spartalis expressed optimism about the future of blockchain and crypto technologies, envisioning a world where these innovations drive positive societal change and global financial freedom.
