Overview

MovieBloc is a reverse ICO project driven by the Korean video streaming platform Pandora.tv. MovieBloc aims to solve problems caused by the domination of the theatrical and home entertainment industry by conglomerates with its blockchain technology.^[3]

Through MovieBloc, creators will get transparent revenue share, audience data, and equal screening opportunity; the viewers will access various films and content. The MovieBloc ecosystem consists of three layers: Bloc, Market, and Fundraising.^[4]

Bloc is a decentralized community layer connecting all participants, Market is a layer where content and talent can be traded, and the Fundraising layer supports and incentivizes content creators. The MovieBloc platform runs on the Ontology blockchain, with its utility token MBL being an OEP-4 token.

It is used for all payment-related services, such as premium content, translation, and within the MovieBloc ecosystem. Besides payment for services, the MBL token is also used to reward users for reporting illegal content and reviewing films.

MovieBloc has signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Rainydays Pictures to develop the film ecosystem and show various genres of movies that anyone can enjoy and to realize the value of short films.^[4][5]
