Nikhil Sharma completed a PGDM in Core at the Institute of Management Technology, Nagpur, between July 2024 and June 2026, with a grade of 9.0. During the program, he received the Shri Mahendranath Memorial Award for being the batch topper in the first year. He also received awards for ranking first in the finance, operations, and HR streams.

#### Tokenization and Interoperability in Institutional Finance #01

On June 6, 2025, Nikhil Sharma, Executive Director and Head of Growth at Kinexys Digital, participated in an interview with Simon Taylor, Head of Content & Strategy at Sardine, during the Avalanche Summit. The discussion covered Kinexys Digital's use of [distributed ledger technology](https://iq.wiki/wiki/distributed-ledger-technology-dlt) in financial infrastructure, with a focus on asset [tokenization](https://iq.wiki/wiki/tokenization), transaction settlement, payments and interoperability.

Sharma explained that Kinexys Digital operates within the payments division of the firm and develops infrastructure for representing traditional financial assets on distributed ledgers. According to Sharma, the platform brings asset and cash settlement processes onto a common ledger structure, addressing the separation between systems used to record assets and those used to process corresponding cash movements. He stated that the platform had been operating for more than four and a half years and that institutional clients were processing more than $2 billion in transactions per day through its gated platform.

The interview also covered the use of [stablecoins](https://iq.wiki/wiki/stablecoin) and tokenized commercial bank money. Sharma described stablecoins as instruments that can facilitate continuous liquidity management and transfers on [blockchain](https://iq.wiki/wiki/blockchain) networks, with tokenized products providing additional mechanisms for holding or deploying on-chain liquidity. Interoperability between ledgers was another topic discussed. He referenced earlier experiments involving [Avalanche](https://iq.wiki/wiki/avalanche) and [Provenance](https://iq.wiki/wiki/provenance), including the use of tokenized investment funds within portfolio structures. According to Sharma, these experiments examined how assets recorded on separate ledgers could interact with payment infrastructure and support processes such as portfolio rebalancing.

Sharma also described three applications operating on the platform: repo transactions, the use of tokenized assets as collateral, and the issuance and settlement of bonds. He stated that intraday repo transactions could be completed in approximately 30 minutes, compared with longer settlement periods associated with conventional processes. The discussion linked this capability to the management of short-term liquidity and collateral.

Another area discussed was the [tokenization](https://iq.wiki/wiki/tokenization) of alternative investment funds, including private credit and private equity funds. Sharma described these markets as involving manual processes and documentation, particularly for capital calls. The work discussed in the interview involved developing a mechanism for handling capital calls for tokenized funds and integrating these assets into portfolio structures. Sharma connected this work with earlier experiments involving tokenized funds and automated portfolio rebalancing.

The interview presented these activities as a sequence of applications involving tokenized assets, payments and ledger interoperability.
