Numbers Protocol

Numbers Protocol is an open and network that provides content verification and creative tools for AI-driven companies. It offers low-cost digital provenance infrastructure and decentralized storage to increase trust in digital content and enable innovative content monetization.[1][2][3]

Numbers Protocol is a Taiwan-based company with the aim of revolutionizing digital provenance using technology. They seek to ensure the authenticity and traceability of online media, fostering a more transparent and trustworthy digital world for creators, businesses, and consumers.[4]

Numbers Protocol serves as a standard for decentralized provenance, safeguarding the origin of digital media by leveraging technology within a decentralized ecosystem. Analogous to version control systems like Git, Numbers establishes unchangeable records of a digital asset's creation and monitors any modifications made, enabling seamless collaboration and oversight. Operating as a decentralized repository akin to Github, the Numbers securely stores essential data concerning asset provenance, ownership details, and historical alterations in a transparent and tamper-resistant manner.[4]

  • Capture App: This is said to be the first blockchain camera. Users can use it to take photos with on-chain provenance.
  • Seal API: They are tools for developers to seal and retrieve photos in the network
  • Verify website: Users can see the certificate and history of photos.
  • NFT search engine: It helps users find the history associated with the photo asset and helps NFT marketplaces perform theft detection.
  • CaptureClub: Native NFT marketplace for photos created via Numbers Protocol. Users can choose to list their on the platform or other marketplaces in the ecosystem.[5]

Numbers Protocol was founded in 2019, with a long-standing goal to address critical issues in the digital media space, namely misinformation, copyright, and royalty distribution. Its use cases include Reuters coverage of the 2020 US Presidential election, climate-change photo collections, cataloging and preserving war crime evidence in Ukraine, and supporting artists and creators to monetize their creative work with better controls.[6]

can be adopted on all EVM-compatible such as , , , and . However, to deliver consistent and dependable services, the need for a dedicated blockchain became apparent. This led to the development of Numbers .[6]

In December 2022, the Numbers Mainnet was launched as a major milestone in its mission to revolutionize the digital media content industry. It is said to be the first blockchain dedicated to ensuring the provenance of digital media, offering improved efficiency, enhanced stability, and reduced costs.[6]

Numbers Mainnet is more than just a technological advancement; it is a symbol of our dedication to authenticity in the digital media content space.

The Numbers Mainnet was preceded by the launch of its native token, NUM, in 2021. The NUM token secures the essential funding for the construction and smooth operation of the Numbers Mainnet, and also enables the creation of a for the future management of the network.[6]

The NumbersDAO is a community-led governance system that allows members to participate in the decision-making process of the protocol.[7]
NumbersDAO is responsible for a variety of tasks, including

  • Setting the strategic direction of the protocol
  • Allocating resources
  • Voting on proposals
  • Determining the application standard of Content Verifier
  • Resolving disputes

The NumbersDAO ensures that the protocol is governed fairly and transparently. It also allows community members to have a direct say in the development of the protocol.[7]

$NUM Token

NUM is the native protocol token of Numbers Protocol. It is primarily a utility token designed to incentivize users to create, archive, and verify content with integrity. The vision of is to create an ecosystem where photos (encompassing both images and videos) matter by leveraging proofs, integrity records, and data provenance to increase the credibility and legitimacy of registered photos in the network.[8]

Participants, such as verifiers and other network operators can get rewards by providing services to increase the credibility and legitimacy of registered photos. NUM tokens can also be used to pay for services running in the decentralized photo network.[8]

NUM is minted from Numbers Blockchain and bridged to Ethereum. A bridge supported by Chainport can further bridge the NUM tokens to the BNB chain.[9]
