**StableFX** is an institutional foreign-exchange engine for [stablecoins](https://iq.wiki/wiki/stablecoin), offered by [Circle](https://iq.wiki/wiki/circle) Technology Services, LLC (CTS) and launched on the [Arc](https://iq.wiki/wiki/arc) [blockchain](https://iq.wiki/wiki/blockchain) in September 2026. It combines request-for-quote (RFQ) pricing from multiple [liquidity providers](https://iq.wiki/wiki/liquidity-providers) with onchain, payment-versus-payment settlement for eligible stablecoin currency trades.[\[1\]](#cite-id-dxlyoed9z3)[\[2\]](#cite-id-z871xyu0j2)

Circle designed StableFX to let participating institutions trade and settle around the clock, with either near-instant settlement or a programmable future settlement time. The service is intended to reduce principal risk, prefunded balances, idle capital, and the operational work involved in FX trading.[\[1\]](#cite-id-dxlyoed9z3)[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

## History

[Circle](https://iq.wiki/wiki/circle) unveiled StableFX on November 13, 2025, as an institutional [stablecoin](https://iq.wiki/wiki/stablecoin) FX service running on the [Arc](https://iq.wiki/wiki/arc) [testnet](https://iq.wiki/wiki/testnet). At the time, Arc was awaiting its [mainnet](https://iq.wiki/wiki/mainnet) launch. The announcement also introduced Circle Partner Stablecoins, a program intended to support non-dollar stablecoins on Arc and broaden the currency pairs available to StableFX. Initial participants named by Circle included [Avenia](https://iq.wiki/wiki/avenia), issuer of BRLA; Juno, associated with MXNB; and Stablecorp, issuer of QCAD.[\[4\]](#cite-id-17r5p1oaaq)

In September 2026, Circle described StableFX as live on Arc, and a September 24 report said the service had launched on the network. Its initial offering used selected stablecoin pairs and permissioned participation, with Circle describing expansion to additional currencies, participants, and asset types as a possible development path.[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)[\[2\]](#cite-id-z871xyu0j2)

## Trading and Settlement

A participant requests a quote for a [stablecoin](https://iq.wiki/wiki/stablecoin) pair, and may specify a notional amount and settlement window. Multiple [liquidity providers](https://iq.wiki/wiki/liquidity-providers) can respond; StableFX presents the most competitive executable quote, which the participant can accept or replace by requesting another quote. [Circle](https://iq.wiki/wiki/circle) says this aggregated RFQ model is intended to support competitive pricing and low [slippage](https://iq.wiki/wiki/slippage) while providing access to multiple providers through a single integration.[\[1\]](#cite-id-dxlyoed9z3)[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

When a quote is accepted, the execution is recorded onchain. Both counterparties then fund a [smart contract](https://iq.wiki/wiki/smart-contract), which coordinates settlement either near-instantly or at the agreed future time. In the payment-versus-payment (PvP) model, both sides of the trade settle or neither does; Circle presents this atomic settlement as a way to reduce principal risk. The [Arc](https://iq.wiki/wiki/arc) announcement says the guarantee also applies to deferred trades.[\[1\]](#cite-id-dxlyoed9z3)[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

Deferred settlement can use configurable risk controls and netting models to offset opposing positions before settlement and reduce gross funding needs. Circle also describes a configurable risk buffer for deferred trades to mitigate market risk. Settlement timing can depend on network conditions and whether both counterparties are ready to fund their obligations.[\[1\]](#cite-id-dxlyoed9z3)[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

## Arc Infrastructure

StableFX uses [Arc](https://iq.wiki/wiki/arc) as its settlement foundation. Arc is an open layer-1 [blockchain](https://iq.wiki/wiki/blockchain) launched by Arc Network Services LLC and operated by a permissioned [validator](https://iq.wiki/wiki/validator) set. The Arc announcement describes deterministic transaction finality in under a second and network fees denominated in [stablecoins](https://iq.wiki/wiki/stablecoin); transacting on Arc depends on being able to obtain and use [USDC](https://iq.wiki/wiki/usdc) to pay [gas](https://iq.wiki/wiki/gas) fees.[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

[Circle](https://iq.wiki/wiki/circle) describes StableFX as a collection of APIs and onchain [smart contracts](https://iq.wiki/wiki/smart-contract) that enable counterparties to share transaction data without CTS acting as an intermediary. The onchain execution and settlement record is intended to provide a shared reference for the trade and reduce reconciliation work.[\[1\]](#cite-id-dxlyoed9z3)[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

Circle has described privacy features for Arc as a proposed means of selectively shielding sensitive onchain information, including trade details, counterparties, and settlement information. Circle’s StableFX product page says the features are expected to go live after Arc [Mainnet](https://iq.wiki/wiki/mainnet); the Arc announcement characterizes their scope and rollout as subject to change.[\[1\]](#cite-id-dxlyoed9z3)[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

## Supported Stablecoins

StableFX supports [USDC](https://iq.wiki/wiki/usdc) and [EURC](https://iq.wiki/wiki/eurc) alongside selected local-currency [stablecoins](https://iq.wiki/wiki/stablecoin) in [Circle](https://iq.wiki/wiki/circle)’s Partner Stablecoins program. Circle says partner assets and issuers are assessed for reserve management, independent auditing, and operational soundness; the available currency pairs are selected from the supported set.[\[1\]](#cite-id-dxlyoed9z3)[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

The currencies and stablecoins listed by Circle include:

* the Australian dollar (AUDF, issued by Forte);
* Brazilian real (BRLA, issued by [Avenia](https://iq.wiki/wiki/avenia));
* Canadian dollar (CADD, issued by Tetra Digital Group, and QCAD, issued by Stablecorp);
* Swiss franc (CHFAU, issued by [AllUnity](https://iq.wiki/wiki/allunity));
* euro (EURAU, issued by AllUnity, and EURC, issued by Circle);
* British pound (GBPA, issued by Agant);
* South Korean won ([KRW1](https://iq.wiki/wiki/krw1), issued by BDACS Inc);
* Mexican peso (MXNB, issued by Bitso);
* Swedish krona (SEKAU, issued by AllUnity);
* US dollar (USDC, issued by Circle);
* South African rand (ZARU, issued by ZAR Universal Network).[\[1\]](#cite-id-dxlyoed9z3)[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

## Uses and Access

[Circle](https://iq.wiki/wiki/circle) identifies multi-currency [stablecoin](https://iq.wiki/wiki/stablecoin) accounts, cross-border payments, and treasury management as uses for StableFX. Account providers can convert between [USDC](https://iq.wiki/wiki/usdc) and vetted local stablecoins as needed; payment providers can convert USDC when funding a payment rather than holding large destination-currency balances in advance; and treasury teams can convert local-stablecoin receipts into USDC, then convert back when local funding is required.[\[1\]](#cite-id-dxlyoed9z3)[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

Circle says USDC and [EURC](https://iq.wiki/wiki/eurc) liquidity can be accessed through Circle Mint, including near-instant fiat-to-stablecoin conversions in supported jurisdictions. Participants may access USDC liquidity through Circle and exchange it for supported local-currency stablecoins on StableFX.

Fiat onramps and offramps for local stablecoins require participants to contract directly with the relevant issuers; participants arrange their own custody for those local-currency assets, while Circle offers custody for USDC and EURC.[\[1\]](#cite-id-dxlyoed9z3)

The service is aimed at approved institutions and enterprises, including banks, fintechs, stablecoin neobanks, remittance and payment-service providers, payroll providers, and multinational companies managing working capital across currencies.

Circle screens counterparties for compliance; eligible businesses must be incorporated in a jurisdiction Circle considers respectable and pass its screening.[\[1\]](#cite-id-dxlyoed9z3)[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

## FX Market Context

[Circle](https://iq.wiki/wiki/circle) presented StableFX as a response to FX settlement practices that can depend on banking hours, prefunding, intermediaries, and delayed settlement.

Its [Arc](https://iq.wiki/wiki/arc) announcement cited an estimate that nearly $10 trillion changes hands in FX markets each day, while the weekday period when the greatest number of real-time gross settlement systems operate simultaneously is about five hours.[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

The announcement also cited figures for April 2025 indicating that about 36% of measured gross FX obligations settled through PvP, while 64% settled without that protection. It stated that 10% of the total—about $1.4 trillion per day—was settled bilaterally without settlement-risk mitigation, and identified emerging markets and corridors without access to Continuous Linked Settlement as especially exposed.[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)

Circle situated StableFX within a broader development of institutional onchain FX. Its announcement cited Project Agorá as demonstrating atomic multicurrency settlement using tokenized bank deposits and central bank reserves, and described Project Pangea as a multinational banking consortium developing a T+0 framework for international FX markets.

Circle also said adoption of StableFX would proceed corridor by corridor and workflow by workflow, shaped by liquidity, controls, and regulatory requirements.[\[3\]](#cite-id-9idnu3vdk6)
