# Education  
  
Varun Srinivasan attended Carnegie Mellon University and studied for a B.S. degree in Information Systems from 2006 to 2010. He was also a Y Combinator fellow in 2013. [\[1\]](#cite-id-s88ui3cxser)  
  
# Career  
  
In October 2010, Varun joined Microsoft as the PM for OneNote until May 2013. In June 2013, he co-founded SoundFocus[\[4\]](#cite-id-baa2a4fn24g), a San Francisco, CA-based startup creating personalized mobile audio products. [\[1\]](#cite-id-s88ui3cxser)

In October 2020,  Varun Srinivasan co-founded [Farcaster](https://iq.wiki/wiki/farcaster) alongside [Dan Romero](https://iq.wiki/wiki/dan-romero). Farcaster is described in its own documentation, as a "sufficiently decentralized social network built on [Ethereum](https://iq.wiki/wiki/ethereum)." It is a decentralized protocol designed specifically for building and connecting social apps. It aims to create a censorship-free environment where users have full control over their data and audience. To achieve this, Farcaster employs a sufficiently decentralized network architecture that lets users control their social graph and enables them to interact with various apps on the network via a single identity. On January 26, 2024, daily active users on Farcaster surged following the launch of a new feature, Frames.
