Blockchain at Berkeley was founded in the fall of 2016 by a group of UC Berkeley students, including Max Fang and Gloria Zhao, to explore blockchain technology.

The organization launched its first student-run course (DeCal), 'The Blockchain for Developers', providing a technical introduction to blockchain technology.

Established the B@B Xcelerator, a startup accelerator program to support early-stage blockchain and Web3 projects, providing mentorship and resources.

The organization's 'Blockchain for Developers' course was formally adopted by the UC Berkeley Computer Science department as CS198, a for-credit course.
