Zhiqing Sun joined OpenAI as a researcher, where he contributed to training Large Language Models (LLMs), including projects like deep research and the ChatGPT agent.

He successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis, "Scalable Alignment of Large Language Models Towards Truth-Seeking, Complex Reasoning, and Human Values," at Carnegie Mellon University.

Sun joined Meta's newly formed superintelligence lab (MSL) as a researcher, following his tenure at OpenAI.
