Erick Zhang
Erick Zhang is a venture capitalist and founder in the cryptocurrency industry, known as the Founding Partner of Nomad Capital and the former Chief Executive Officer of CoinMarketCap. He was also an early team member at Binance, where he held several executive positions. [1] [2]
Education
Zhang holds a Master of Science degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He previously earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Macau. [2] [3]
Career
Before entering the cryptocurrency industry, Zhang gained several years of experience in banking, investment, and big data analytics. In August 2013 he worked at Citibank as a VP until July 2015. He then became an early team member at the cryptocurrency exchange Binance, where he held multiple executive roles, including Head of Binance Research and Head of Launchpad. In his capacity at Binance Research, he focused on providing data-driven analysis for investors with a stated goal of increasing transparency and improving the quality of information within the crypto ecosystem. In 2020, Zhang was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the data aggregator CoinMarketCap, a position he held until 2021. Following his tenure at CoinMarketCap, he founded the venture capital firm Nomad Capital, where he serves as the Founding and Managing Partner. He is also the founder of Buidlpad. [1] [2] [3]
