Velloso attended Faculdade de Brasília from 2002 to 2006, where he studied Business Administration. He later pursued postgraduate studies at National University, earning a Master of Science degree in Computer Science between 2013 and 2016. [1]
Velloso has held senior product leadership roles at several major technology companies. His career includes a position as Director of Product at Microsoft, where he gained extensive experience with developer tools and platforms. Following his time at Microsoft, he joined Google DeepMind as a Vice President of Product, contributing to the development and strategy of advanced artificial intelligence projects.
In July 2025, Velloso moved to Meta to become the Vice President of Product for the Developer Platform. He joined the company as part of a newly formed group focused on advanced AI development.
Velloso is a key member of Meta's Superintelligence team, a strategic initiative launched in mid-2025 to advance the company's capabilities in generative AI and large-scale models. The team was assembled with talent from prominent AI research organizations, including OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and Scale AI, with a stated goal of achieving leadership in the field. The group's focus spans foundational research, AI infrastructure, and product integration.
Within this team, Velloso's role as VP of Product for the Developer Platform is to bridge the gap between foundational research and practical application, focusing on creating tools and platforms for developers. His position is considered integral to translating the team's research into scalable products and fostering a robust developer ecosystem around Meta's AI technologies.
In a public statement regarding the team's mission, Velloso shared the following vision:
"Meta's vision is to bring personal superintelligence to everyone. We believe in putting this power in people's hands to direct it towards what they value in their own lives. This is distinct from others in the industry who believe superintelligence should be directed centrally towards automating all valuable work, and then humanity will live on a dole of its output. At Meta, we believe that people pursuing their individual aspirations is how we have always made progress expanding prosperity, science, health, and culture. This will be increasingly important in the future as well."
Velloso has engaged in mentorship activities focused on technology and education. From February 2013 to February 2014, he served as a mentor for the robotics group at Kamiakin Middle School, where he helped students learn to build and program robots using Lego Mindstorms.
Between July 2010 and July 2012, he was a mentor for UPT Digital, a special character high school in Christchurch, New Zealand. In this role, he provided guidance to students on Microsoft-related technologies. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
