Async Art (Founded in February 2020) is an art movement built on the Ethereum Blockchain to create, collect, and trade programmable art, as well as Digital painting, split into "Layers", which you can use to affect the overall image.[2][3]
Art that can evolve over time, react to its owners, or follow a stock price is now all possible with programmable art.
Since its launch in February 2020, the platform has seen $30M+ in sales volume with over 8,000 creators on the platform.[1]
Async art provides a platform to create a form of living art, art that could react to its owner, evolve over time, or tap into live data to determine its look without a single line of code.
Crypto Art allows artists to create limited editions of their Digital artwork which is achieved by permanently linking their artwork to a unique token that lives on the blockchain. This token is signed by the artist and represents the original piece, although anyone can still view the work, there is a record of who explicitly owns it and since the token follows a standard, it is immediately allowed to be viewed, bought, or sold on a number of NFT Marketplaces.
Async art has taken this concept and has gone one level deeper beyond tokenizing the single work, Async art allows for the tokenization of the individual layers that makes up the artwork which as a result allows for the artwork to take different forms.
Async art allows the purchase of both Masters and Layers. Think of a master as a 1/1 edition art piece and layers are individual components that make up the master image. Once live, the master will continually check its layers and update their appearance based on the layer owner's input.
When a layer is bought, the buyer has exclusive control to affect the artwork to which the layer belongs. Layers are endowed with special abilities decided by the artist. When something is changed on a layer, the master image will reflect this regardless of who owns it.
The artist decides the parameters of the Artwork and grants exclusive control over any aspect to individual collectors. The artists can let someone change the state of the background, the position of a character, or the color of the sky. Art has become programmable, and it’s limited only by the level of one's imagination.
