Tether officially announced the launch of USAT, a U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin for the American market, at an event in New York City.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino first mentioned plans for a new stablecoin specifically designed for the United States market in an interview with CNBC.

The U.S. Congress passed the GENIUS Act, establishing a federal regulatory framework for stablecoin issuers and paving the way for regulated stablecoins like USAT.

The USAT stablecoin is scheduled to debut for U.S. businesses and institutional clients in late 2025.
