David D. Tawil
David D. Tawil is the President and Co-Founder of ProChain Capital, A multi-strategy Crypto-Asset fund covering the entire ecosystem of what they believe is a burgeoning asset class. He currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer & Director at Centaurus Energy, Inc., formerly known as Madalena Energy Inc.[1][2]
David is a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Bloomberg, the New York Times, Reuters, CNBC, Bloomberg, and Fox Business. In addition, David has served as an expert witness in securities-related trials.[3]
Education
David earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, graduating magna cum laude, from Yeshiva University. Subsequently, he attained a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of Michigan Law School.[4]
Career
David commenced his legal career as an associate at Skadden, Arps, where he held a full-time position from August 1999 to April 2001. He subsequently transitioned to Davis Polk & Wardwell, assuming the role of Legal Associate. In this capacity, he specialized in corporate restructuring, bankruptcy, and insolvency, representing various stakeholders such as debtors, lenders, bondholders, trade creditors, purchasers of assets, and other involved parties.
In 2009, David co-founded Maglan Capital and served as its President for over 12 years. Maglan Capital operated as an event-driven fund with a focus on corporate turnarounds, particularly in the U.S. and Argentina small-cap markets, adopting activist positions. With over six years of operation, Maglan Capital's principals boasted extensive experience in bankruptcy, turnaround, and restructuring. The fund employed a fundamental, bottom-up approach, concentrating on situations with short- to medium-term catalysts by investing in secured and unsecured loans, bonds, and post-reorganization equity
Before establishing Maglan Capital in 2009, David worked as an investment banker at Credit Suisse, where he held the position of Director of Leveraged Finance. In addition, he co-managed the fixed-income alternative asset trading business, focusing on sourcing and trading illiquid high-yield and distressed debt instruments.[5][6]
David has served as a Subject Matter Expert at the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Additionally, he has served as an Expert Witness at the United States District Court.[7]

Since 2020, David has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Centaurus Energy, Inc. Centaurus Energy is an independent international upstream oil and gas company with primary operations centered around the exploration, development, and production of crude oil, natural gas liquids, and natural gas, primarily situated in Argentina.
Centaurus Energy's shares are publicly traded on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol CTA and on the OTC Pink Market under the symbol CTARF.[10][11]
Personal Life
David first ventured into crypto in 2017. He is happily married to Jenny Tawil, and they currently reside in Deal, New Jersey. David has a passion for skiing.[12]
