Christy Hyungwon Choi is a South Korean entrepreneur and investor based in Singapore. She served as a Founding Director of Binance Labs, the venture and incubation arm of Binance, and is a co‑founder of AO Labs and SkyGG. Her activities include venture investing, startup leadership, and advisory roles in Web3 and blockchain projects.

Early life and education

Choi was born in South Korea. She attended Yonsei University, where she studied Business Administration and English Literature and earned a BA and a BBA (2010–2016). She started her first technology venture at age 20. During her undergraduate studies she conducted research on social entrepreneurship at New York University Stern. Choi earned an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business (2021–2023).

Early career

Choi worked as a Senior Consultant at Oliver Wyman, focusing on financial services. She later led business development at a blockchain startup in South Korea and briefly held the position of Chief Marketing Officer at a fintech company.

Binance Labs (2018–2020)

Choi joined Binance Labs in 2018 as a Founding Director, helping to establish the investment and incubation arm of Binance. She led the investment and incubation programme and, during her tenure, was involved in more than 40 investments across decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, infrastructure, and other Web3 sectors. Choi served at the board level for Binance Labs and left the organisation in 2020. ^{[1] [2] [4]}

AO Labs and Spacebar (2021–present)

Choi co‑founded AO Labs in September 2021. AO Labs developed Spacebar, described as an on‑chain identity and social platform that connects users across DeFi, NFTs, DAOs, and game guilds. Spacebar uses the ERC‑6551 token standard (Tokenbound Accounts), which allows users to log in and hold assets via their profile NFTs (PFPs). As an angel investor, Choi participated in the seed round of Ondo Finance in August 2021. ^{[4] [6] [3]}

SkyGG (2022–present)

In May 2022 Choi co‑founded SkyGG, a Web3 gaming initiative. The project focuses on blockchain applications in gaming and related ecosystems.

Advisory roles

Choi has served as an advisor to Yield Guild Games (YGG), a Web3 gaming guild and DAO. She is also affiliated with Antler, a startup accelerator. ^{[5] [4]}
