Liam 'Akiba' Wright is a reporter, producer, and blockchain consultant. He is well known for his role as a Senior Editor and Strategy at CryptoSlate, a platform featuring crypto industry news, insights, and data. [1][2][3]
Education
Akiba graduated from the University of York in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy. Prior to that, he was at the Hulme Grammar School for his A Level in English, History, Philosophy, and General Studies. [3]
Career
Akiba started his career as a World Sport Desk Analyst & Reporter at Press Association Sport in January 2005. In 2008 he was the Managing Director at Petela Wright, a film production company. [5]
He was the Digital Director at Team 6t9, a motorbike maintenance product company and at SocialGrowth in January 2014 and August 2015 respectively. In 2017, Akiba worked as the Marketing Manager at GameStars. Afterward, he moved to Kiasco Research as Head of Digital. He was a Founding Director of Banter Media and a Contributing Writer at Benzinga. He was also an Advisor at Super Duper Media Group Ltd. and a Co-founder of Hop Pole Studios. [5]
Akiba first got into crypto by mining Dogecoin after hours at his video production company in 2013. Since then he has become in his own words, "a blockchain maximalist fascinated by all aspects of web3." [3]
In February 2019, Akiba served as a Blockchain Managing Consultant and then a Web3 Red Team Advisor at ASP3CT[7]. Akiba serves as a freelance Contributor at Forbes where he contributes to Forbes Digital Assets on topics mostly related to Bitcoin. [5]
CryptoSlate
Akiba joined CryptoSlate as a Journalist in February 2022 where he wrote daily content covering all aspects of web3 with a focus on macro socio-economic conditions and fundamental analysis. In November 2022 he became a Senior Journalist and Producer for the company leading media initiatives involving video interviews, podcasts, Twitter Spaces, and livestreams. [3][8]
In June 2023, he moved to the role of Senior Editor and Strategy at CryptoSlate leading editorial teams and newsroom strategy to drive growth. Akiba also hosts the SlateCast section of CryptoSlate where he features original stories from experts around the globe on the CryptoSlate YouTube channel. [6]
