TruthorDare (DARE) is a memecoin on Solana created using Pump.fun by Mikol. On May 22, 2024, the token went viral after the developer Mikol accidentally lit himself on fire and received third-degree burns on a livestream. As part of a dare, Mikol had doused himself in isopropyl alcohol and was shot at with fireworks which caused him to catch on fire. [1] [2] [3]
On May 16, 2024, Mikol launched the TruthorDare ($DARE) token on the Solana blockchain via Pump.fun. The token enables community participation, allowing holders to propose dares through a dedicated Telegram group. Mikol performs these dares live on Kick, encompassing tasks such as recording studio sessions and engaging in unconventional challenges, such as dealing with pyrotechnics involving his own body. [1]
DLuxx, an investor in the $DARE project, discussed the community's support for Mikol, including fundraising efforts for equipment, vehicles, and housing assistance. [1]
The Livestream Burn Incident occurred on May 22, 2024, during a promotional event on Pump.fun. Mikol's attempt to increase visibility and attract investors led to a dare involving isopropyl alcohol and fireworks. Unfortunately, the stunt resulted in severe burns broadcast live on Twitter. Despite efforts to help with limited resources like water, Mikol sustained extensive third-degree burns across a significant portion of his body. [1][2]
After being hit by fireworks, Mikol was quickly engulfed in flames. His friends, who were livestreaming the event, attempted to put out the fire but were unprepared, lacking fire extinguishers or fire blankets. They only had a few gallons of water. Within 15 seconds, Mikol's burns became apparent. "He's all burned up," one friend said during the livestream as Mikol flailed on the floor and more water was poured on him.
Even Mikol's brother told Decrypt that many who witnessed the event wanted to wait for Mikol to wake up before saying anything.
Mikol screamed in agony during the livestream, claiming he was losing feeling in his hands and pleading to be transported to the hospital. "It burns, my body burns," exclaimed the developer. The motorist was yelled at by his friends to hurry to the hospital. Mikol was seen attempting to keep his skin off of any objects in the car as the camera panted to him.
While still hospitalized, Mikol shared a selfie on TruthorDare's Telegram:
After being transported to a trauma facility in Miami, Mikol had treatment for third-degree burns. A few hours later, Michael Valentine, a viewer who told Decrypt he was speaking with Mikol throughout the incident and has over five years of expertise in the fire service, attempted to clarify the injuries on Telegram. Valentine declared that he was certain that Mikol had third-degree burns, estimating that 35% of his body had been burned, but it may have been more, based on the symptoms Mikol had described and the appearance of the wounds.
Soon, pictures of Mikol wearing bandages appeared on a hospital livestream. Diverse responses were received by the community, and investors expressed worry that the token's value was falling.
Mikol developed an audience of investors who watched him every day as he streamed dares that were posted in the Telegram group. He'd already lit his pants on fire, consumed bong water, and hired a recording studio to write a song.
The developer’s brother said on Telegram:
"Maybe a month, a year, or a day from now some of you won’t know or care for Mikol, [...] But there was no line of respect for me when Mikol is my life and for you he’s a one-week show."
Mikol returned to live streaming on the Kick platform and is accepting challenges. In one of his appearances, he mentioned recovering and feeling better, ready for new challenges.
On his Telegram channel, which is his main way of communicating with his audience, he talks about the dates of his life, shares his links, and talks about upcoming challenges.[4][5]
