After dropping out of his computer science degree, Amir Chetrit worked in real estate before 2008. Like many future Ethereum founders, he questioned the conventional financial system. ^[1]

At the time, Chetrit was involved with an Israeli startup called Colored Coins, which aimed to manage real-world assets as tokens on the Bitcoin blockchain. After meeting in a Bitcoin business conference in Amsterdam, Vitalik invited him to join the Ethereum project in December 2013. ^[1][3]

In June 2014, during a meeting with the Ethereum developers, he agreed to step down while retaining his status as a co-founder. ^[2]
