Jirayut (Topp) Srupsrisopa is the Founder and Group CEO of Bitkub Capital Group Holdings Co. Prior to founding Bitkub, Srupsrisopa established Coins.co.th, a bitcoin wallet company in Thailand. ^[1]

Srupsrisopa holds various positions within the Thai fintech sector, serving as an Executive Board Member and Vice President at the Thai Fintech Association, as well as a Subcommittee member at Thailand’s Office of the Trade Competition Commission. ^[1]

Education

Jirayut studied at various institutions, starting with Marlborough Boy's College in Blenheim, New Zealand, for primary school. He then attended Wanganui Collegiate School for high school from 2004 to 2008. ^[2]

Moving on to higher education, Jirayut completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Manchester from 2008 to 2011, earning a Bachelor of Economics Science (BEconSc) with Honors in Economics. He graduated with an upper first-class honors degree, ranking in the top 0.5% of their graduating cohort. ^[2]

Subsequently, Jirayut pursued further studies at the University of Oxford from 2011 to 2013, earning a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Economics. During this time, he was involved in the Oxford Thai Student Society. ^[2]

For their MPhil thesis, Jirayut focused on "Thailand’s experience with Capital inflows: Evidence from Structural breaks, Cointegration, and a Vector Error Correction approach." His research investigated the dynamics of capital flows to Thailand, particularly in the context of the Asian crisis. ^[2]

His research interests include blockchain technology, international capital flows, vector error correction models, and fintech. ^[1]

Career

Jirayut is an Executive Board Member and Vice President of the Thai Fintech Association, a position he has held since February 2019. Srupsrisopa is also a member of various international organizations, including the World Economic Forum, where he has been a member since January 2022, and the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), Thailand Chapter, where he has been a member since April 2022. Furthermore, he has been a member of the Entrepreneurs' Organization, Thailand Metropolitan Chapter, since March 2022. ^[3]

Prior to founding Bitkub, Srupsrisopa co-founded Coins.co.th, Thailand’s leading Bitcoin wallet company, and served as its Chief Executive Officer from April 2014 to December 2016. He has also gained experience in financial consulting, serving as a Financial Consultant at Marquis Advisory Group in March 2014, and as a Financial Analyst at Evotech Capital from October 2013 to January 2014. ^[3]

During his academic pursuits, Srupsrisopa conducted research as a Postgraduate Student at The University of Oxford, where he earned his Master of Philosophy in Economics from October 2011 to July 2013. He also worked as an Economist at the Bank of Thailand in June 2012, gaining insights into macroeconomics and monetary policy. ^[3]

In addition to his professional endeavors, Srupsrisopa has contributed to various initiatives aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and economic development. He served as a Wiki Contributor for the World Startup Report and World Startup Wiki from January 2014 to March 2014, where he contributed to mapping business opportunities worldwide. He also interned at the Democrat Party of Thailand as a Development Aid Intern in August 2009, where he was involved in projects focused on assisting impoverished and orphaned children. ^[3]

Topp Jirayut is the Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Bitkub Capital Group Holdings Co., Ltd., a blockchain and digital asset group of companies in Thailand, since February 2018. ^[3]

"Blockchain is an underlying protocol. When you use Facebook, you’re not thinking about TCP/IP, you’re thinking about sending messages to your friends. Same with other protocols - you're not thinking about HTTP when you're using a website, you will not think about SMTP when you send an email. So, I don’t think in the long run that people will be thinking they’re using bitcoin to send money to a friend. They’ll just be thinking of it as a faster way to get money across without losing money."
