Early Life and Education
Oliver Maroney received a High School Diploma in Business from Franklin High School, where he studied from 2009 to 2011. During his time at the school, he participated in the Men's Soccer Program, served as captain of the boys' varsity soccer team during the 2009–2010 season, and received All P.I.L. 2nd Team recognition in 2010 and All City 1st Team recognition in 2011.
Between 2012 and 2013, Maroney attended Southwestern Oregon Community College, earning an Associate's degree in Business. While enrolled, he participated in the Men's Soccer Program and played as a starting midfielder on the varsity soccer team. [3]
Career
Telecommunications and Media
Oliver Maroney worked in the telecommunications sector, holding management positions at Comcast, Stephouse Networks, and CenturyLink. Based in the Oregon and Southwest Washington markets, he began in residential sales before moving into leadership roles involving residential and business sales operations, which served as a basis for later work with digital assets.
Alongside his telecommunications work, Maroney was involved in sports media. From 2005 to 2008, he contributed to The Oregonian/OregonLive as a high school basketball reporter. In 2015, he joined Basketball Insiders as a reporter and writer covering the NBA. Between 2017 and 2019, he worked as a senior writer for Uproxx Media and contributed to Dime Magazine.
Maroney also served as a soccer coach for Portland Public Schools from 2012 to 2017. During this period, he coached at Franklin High School and later at Cleveland High School.
BIG3
In November 2018, Maroney joined the BIG3 Basketball League as Director of Content and Media Relations. His responsibilities included overseeing content production and media-related activities for the organization. He remained in the position until July 2020.
Cameo
Maroney joined Cameo in July 2020. During his tenure at the company, he held several positions, including Sports Partnerships, Talent Relations – Sports, Talent Relations Lead – Sports, and General Manager of Web3 & NFTs.
