EDCON (Community Ethereum Development Conference)

2023 Edition

The 2023 edition of EDCON was held from May 19 to 23 in Podgorica, Montenegro. 2021 Edition

EDCON 2021 was held online from August 27 to 29, 2021. The virtual conference covered Ethereum's technological progress, business use cases, on-chain governance, and community building. 2020 Edition

EDCON 2020 took place online from August 9 to 11. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, it marked the first instance where all EDCON keynotes and sessions were made publicly available without charge, ensuring broader accessibility. 2019 Edition

EDCON 2019 took place from April 8 to 13 in Sydney, Australia. The event expanded its scale, presenting "EDCON Week," which comprised two main segments: [2][6]

  1. EDCON HACK (April 8-10): This hackathon kicked off EDCON Week, attracting developers and enthusiasts from around the world. Topics included Sharding, Proof of Stake (PoS), Clients, Plasma, Channels, Snarks, and more. Participants collaborated to explore innovative solutions and developments within the Ethereum ecosystem.
  2. EDCON Conference (April 11-13): The main conference segment featured core Ethereum development teams discussing the latest updates in Ethereum research and technology. Additionally, prominent figures in the blockchain space shared insights on current trends, projects, applications, and plans for community building and development. This multi-day event offered a comprehensive overview of advancements and future prospects within the Ethereum ecosystem.

2018 Edition

EDCON 2018 was held at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, from May 3 to 5. The conference covered Ethereum Blockchain technology and research, including Proof of Stake (PoS) / Casper, scalability, cryptography / privacy, security, and more. Participants discussed current trends in Ethereum and blockchain-based projects and applications, along with strategies for community building and development. [2][7]

As a newly added activity, EDCON 2018 hosted a Super Demo contest, allowing participants to showcase innovative projects within the Ethereum ecosystem. [2][7]

2017 Edition

EDCON 2017 took place on February 17-18, 2017, at the École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris – Europe (ESCP) in Paris, France. The conference aimed to promote Ethereum's development and real-world applications. [2][8]

Topics covered included Ethereum base-layer technology, research on Proof of Stake (PoS) and scalability, privacy issues, development of Ethereum consortium chains, building applications on Ethereum, and investment opportunities within the Ethereum ecosystem. [2][8]
