Jemma Green (born April 7, 1979) is a Co-Founder and Chairman of Powerledger, a tech company that uses blockchain for energy and environmental commodity trading.

Early life

Green was born in Perth, Australia in 1979. Her mother, Luciana, 68, an Italian immigrant, is a public servant. Her father John (deceased) was an Irish born.

Education

Green was with an undergraduate degree in Commerce at Murdoch University in Perth, Australia. She then went on to complete three degrees at University of Cambridge : Postgraduate diplomas in Sustainable Business, Cross Sector Partnership, and a Masters by research at and the with her research looking at environmental risks in corporate credit ratings for the mining and oil and gas sectors globally. Graduating in 2013, she returned to Australia and is currently a doctoral candidate at Curtin University in Perth, her research focused on disruptive innovation, stranded assets, renewable energy and storage for housing and prefabricated and modular building systems.

Career

She is a Co-Founder and Chairman of Powerledger, a tech company that uses blockchain for energy and environmental commodity trading. She worked at the green in investment banking between 2002 and 2004, when, she began working at investment bank J. P. Morgan in risk management. Around this time, banks were realising the need for a greater focus on corporate social responsibility in business and began recruiting to assist with the transition. In 2007, Green was chosen to help set up J.P. Morgan’s where she worked reviewing the banks financing from an environmental and social perspectives in developing countries. In 2013, she resigned and repatriated to Australia. She previously worked at Curtin University, she is also on the to, a London-based research NGO focused on how much carbon dioxide is listed on the stock exchanges around the world, she is also on the Advisory Board of. Green runs a small consultancy called. Jemma Green was elected as an independent at the City of Perth in October 2015. In 2016, Jemma was made a winner by Western Australian Business News.
