Jun Liu is a researcher and entrepreneur who is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of GAIB.AI, an artificial intelligence and GPU infrastructure company. His professional background is centered on blockchain research, decentralized systems, and cryptographic security. [1]
Liu attended National Taiwan University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2015, followed by a second Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering in 2018. He continued his studies at Cornell University, where he completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science in 2024. [8]
Liu's career began in 2014 while he was a student, taking on the role of Leader of Technology Development at HackNTU, where he was responsible for developing the hackathon's official website and overseeing student technology projects. From 2015 to 2017, he co-founded AwareHouse, a startup based in Taiwan that developed point-of-sale (POS) systems for small vendors. During this period, he also participated in the Microsoft Student Partner Intern Program, where he led technical workshops and contributed to open-source application development. In 2017, he was a Software Engineer Intern at the IBM China Development Laboratory, working on data processing and system design. Concurrently with his studies at National Taiwan University, Liu was an Undergraduate Researcher in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction and Automatic Speech Recognition and also served as a Student Representative for the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) Department.
In 2018, Liu co-founded Pelith, a blockchain startup focused on creating decentralized financial tools. From 2019 to 2022, he worked as a blockchain researcher at Cornell University as part of the Initiative for CryptoCurrencies and Contracts (IC3), where his work focused on cryptography, blockchain security, and decentralized finance (DeFi) systems. In 2021, he joined Ava Labs as a Technical Manager, where he managed platform and business development teams, oversaw smart contract audits, and handled DeFi integrations for the Avalanche blockchain. Between 2022 and 2024, Liu was the lead for technical due diligence at the Blizzard Fund, an investment fund for the Avalanche ecosystem. During the same period, he also served as Vice President at Sora Ventures, where he was involved in investment analysis for projects related to Bitcoin infrastructure, cryptography, and DeFi. In 2024, he co-founded GAIB.AI and assumed the role of Chief Technology Officer, leading the company's technical development of AI and GPU infrastructure. [9]
In April 2025, Liu participated as a panelist in a discussion titled "Who Owns the Intelligence Layer? Hype vs. Trajectory” at The ZK/AI Summit. The panel was moderated by Alice Liu and also featured Ming Guo of LazAI, Ram of OpenLedger, and Michael Heinrich of 0G Labs. The discussion centered on the concept of an "open intelligence layer" emerging from the convergence of zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs and artificial intelligence (AI). The panelists discussed the need for a redesigned, modular infrastructure to support on-chain AI applications, which would enable more flexible data processing and model creation. The conversation also covered the importance of user-driven model customization and the use of blockchain technology to allow users to monetize their knowledge and contributions. A further topic of discussion was the challenge of distinguishing between substantive technological advancements and speculative hype within the AI and blockchain industries. [3]
