Education

Lloyd Nelson studied Business at The University of Texas at Arlington, where he also participated in Track & Field as a sprinter. He later attended Northwood University, studying Management and graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors.

Nelson was also enrolled in the Executive MBA program at MIT Sloan School of Management but did not complete the program. ^[1]

Lloyd Nelson's career has included positions in finance, healthcare technology, digital media, insurance, and digital assets. He has worked in sales, partnerships, finance, and digital asset-related roles across multiple organizations.

Early Career

Nelson began his professional career as an intern at Lockheed Martin, where he worked from 2002 to 2004. He later held a finance position at HSBC between 2004 and 2006.

From 2006 to 2009, Nelson worked in a national sales role at Verizon Digital Media Services. He subsequently served as Area Sales Manager at ZocDoc from 2010 to 2013. Between 2013 and 2015, he worked as Regional Sales Manager at GE Healthcare IT, followed by a similar position at Castlight Health from 2015 to 2016.

Healthcare and Strategic Partnerships

From 2019 to 2020, Nelson served as Director of Strategic Partnerships at HealthJoy. His responsibilities included work related to partnership initiatives and healthcare navigation services.

Digital Assets and Blockchain

In January 2022, Nelson founded Blockchain Ventures, a venture studio focused on blockchain-related businesses and projects. The organization operates in areas including tokenization, payments, decentralized finance (DeFi), and stablecoins. He has served as Chief Executive Officer since its founding.

In October 2022, Nelson joined Lockton as Vice President of Digital Assets, a position he held until May 2025. He then served as Vice President of Digital Assets at Newfront from May 2025 to January 2026.

Howden

In January 2026, Nelson joined Howden as Senior Vice President and Head of U.S. Digital Assets.

His responsibilities at Howden include matters related to digital assets, risk management, cyber resilience, regulatory considerations, operational resilience, governance frameworks, and insurance solutions associated with digital finance and related technologies.

Industry Activities
