Yoonyoung Choy is a financial researcher who specializes in digital assets and market structure. She is the Head of the Digital Asset Research Team at Hanwha Investment & Securities. [1]
Choy pursued an extensive academic career in economics and finance. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Smith College. Following her undergraduate studies, she attended the University of Michigan's Rackham Graduate School, where she obtained a Master of Financial Engineering. She transitioned to research roles, starting as a research assistant at Samsung Global Research from 2011 to 2013. Following this, she worked as an associate researcher at the Hana Institute of Finance for a period between 2013 and 2014. In 2021, Choy joined the Institute of Finance and Banking at Seoul National University as a researcher. During her time at the institute, she contributed to academic publications in the field of finance and received recognition for her work. Her focus shifted specifically to the digital asset space when she joined Korbit, a cryptocurrency company, in 2022. As a research analyst at Korbit until 2025, she published research centered on the structure of the cryptocurrency market. In December 2025, Choy was appointed Head of the Digital Asset Research Team at Hanwha Investment & Securities. [4]
