Erik Reppel is a Canadian software engineer, engineering leader, and angel investor. He is the Head of Engineering for the Coinbase Developer Platform, a position he has held since January 2025. ^{[1] [2]}​

Education

Erik Reppel earned a Bachelor of Software Engineering in Computer Science from University of Victoria, where he studied from 2013 to June 2018. He completed his secondary education at Port Moody Secondary School between 2008 and 2012. ^[1]

Career

Erik Reppel is a software engineer and technology leader who has held engineering roles in the blockchain and technology sectors. He currently serves as Head of Engineering for the Coinbase Developer Platform at Coinbase, a position he assumed in January 2025. In this role, he oversees engineering for developer-focused infrastructure and products, including tools related to stablecoins, wallets, and blockchain integration services.

Before returning to Coinbase, Reppel worked at ZORA, where he served as Head of Engineering from January 2023 to May 2024 and previously as Head of Data from October 2021 to January 2023, leading engineering and data teams across protocol and platform development. He also briefly worked as a Staff Machine Learning Platform Engineer at Clubhouse in San Francisco in 2021.

Earlier in his career, Reppel spent several years at Coinbase between 2018 and 2021, holding roles including Machine Learning Platform Engineer, Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer, and Engineering Manager for the company’s machine learning platform. Prior to these roles, he gained industry experience through internships at Intuitive Surgical (2015), General Fusion (2016), and Coinbase (2017), where he worked on software engineering, data infrastructure, and machine learning systems. ^{[1] [2]}

Reppel is an active angel investor and startup advisor. He occasionally provides small, early-stage investments, known as "angel checks," to new companies.
