[3] [2]
Kam Punia completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Games Design, specializing in 3D animation and programming, at University of Greenwich, where he studied from 2005 to 2008. [6]
Prior to founding his own major studio, Punia held several key positions in the gaming industry. As the Head of TCG (Trading Card Game) for Northern Europe at Konami Digital Entertainment, he was responsible for the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand. During his tenure, he worked to transform the brand into a bestseller within the trading card game market and was involved in developing an Esports academy and grassroots real-time multiplayer tournaments for Yu-Gi-Oh!. [3]
He also served as the Director of Marketing at Red Man Gaming Ltd, a startup focused on mobile and social gaming. In this role, Punia was responsible for global campaigns and managing marketing strategies for the studio's growth. Punia founded Onstar, an outsourcing partner for mobile and Virtual Reality (VR) game development. Through Onstar, he collaborated with well-known brands such as Arsenal FC and Hello Kitty. His experience also extends to the digital collectibles space as an Investor and Advisory Board Member at ECOMI, where he provides strategic advice on the gaming sector for the VeVe digital collectibles platform. In January 2018, Punia founded Pixion Games, a London-based game development studio where he serves as CEO. The studio's focus is on creating "Lunchtime esports" for mobile platforms. This concept describes games designed for quick, competitive, multiplayer sessions that cater to players looking for short but engaging experiences. The studio's team grew to over 28 members, comprising industry veterans from established companies like Konami, Blizzard, Riot Games, King, Sony, Wargaming, Pixonic, Ubisoft, and NCSOFT. [1] [3]
The primary project developed under Pixion Games is Fableborne, a web3 mobile game. The development of the game was supported by a significant funding round. On July 26, 2023, it was announced that Pixion Games had secured $5.5 million for the continued development of Fableborne. Punia highlighted this achievement as significant, noting the difficulty of raising capital during the market conditions of mid-2023. [4] [1]
On January 1, 2025, Punia publicly stated his goal for the year was to launch Fableborne and "set the standard for web3 mobile gaming." The launch process for the game's ecosystem components began that year. In February 2025, the studio initiated the minting process for its "Fableborne Kingdoms NFT" collection. As part of this launch, a "Proof of player" initiative was introduced, which allocated 2,628 guaranteed whitelist spots to early players and content creators to reward community engagement. [4]
In the interview, titled "Kam Punia: The $POWER of Web3 Mobile Gaming," Punia provided a deep dive into his professional background, including his time at Konami with Yu-Gi-Oh!.
