The group was founded as Applied ZKP, a team supported by the Ethereum Foundation to advance zero-knowledge proofs from theory to practical application.

The group rebranded to Privacy & Scaling Explorations (PSE), expanding its scope to include a broader range of programmable cryptography and tools across the entire technology stack.

PSE rebranded to its current name, announcing a new mission and a problem-first roadmap focused on delivering end-to-end privacy to the Ethereum ecosystem.

In collaboration with the EF EcoDev Enterprise team, PSE launched the Institutional Privacy Task Force (IPTF) to unblock institutional adoption of DeFi by creating privacy specifications.
