Jonah Van Bourg

Jonah Van Bourg is an American commodities trader and executive who is the founder and chief executive officer of Concentric Silicon. His career spans nearly two decades in energy, precious metals, and cryptocurrency markets, including senior trading roles at Goldman Sachs, Vitol, and DRW.^[1]

Education

Van Bourg grew up in San Francisco and, alongside his financial career, has been described as a concert-level pianist.^[2] He attended Columbia University, where he studied economics and statistics, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in the two subjects.^[2]​^[1]​

Career

Van Bourg built his career as a professional commodities trader, and by the founding of Concentric Silicon he was described as having 19 years of experience managing trading teams and running risk in volatile markets. His work has progressed across three of the principal arenas of commodity finance — energy, precious metals, and, more recently, digital assets. ^[1]

Van Bourg began his career at Goldman Sachs, where he ran the firm's global oil trading desk.^[1] As an executive director based in Goldman Sachs's London office in the United Kingdom, he was responsible for the firm's crude oil derivatives trading across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. ^{[1] [3] [2]}

Van Bourg subsequently spent seven years as a partner and oil trader at Vitol, one of the largest independent energy trading houses.^{[1] [3]}

Before founding his own company, Van Bourg served as Global Head of Precious Metals and Crypto Trading at DRW, a proprietary trading firm.^[1] In that position he oversaw trading in precious metals such as gold and silver alongside cryptocurrency markets, bridging traditional commodity trading with digital assets. ^[3]
