Early Career
Tony Acuña-Rohter worked as a Software Engineer at State Farm Insurance from May to August 2005. From August 2006 to February 2007, he worked as a QA at kCura Corporation. He later joined Baxter Healthcare as a Software Engineer, where he worked from April to August 2007, which served as a basis for later work with digital assets.
CME Group
In August 2007, Acuña-Rohter joined CME Group as a Senior Software Engineer. He was appointed Manager of Software Engineering in 2013 and subsequently served as Director of Software Engineering – Trade Execution Systems from 2015 to 2017. In that role, he managed a team of software engineers, analysts, and quality assurance engineers involved in the development of matching engine technology for trade execution systems.
ErisX
In February 2018, Acuña-Rohter joined ErisX as Managing Director and Head of Technology. He became Chief Technology Officer in September 2020 and remained in that position until August 2022. His tenure at the company included the period during which ErisX was acquired by Cboe Global Markets.
EDX Markets
Acuña-Rohter joined EDX Markets as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in November 2022. In December 2024, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Jamil Nazarali, who became Executive Chairman. During his time at EDX Markets, the company has focused on an institutional model for digital asset trading based on market structures commonly used in traditional finance, including the use of stablecoin collateral and a central clearinghouse framework.
