Gary Or

Gary Or is a Hong Kong-based software engineer and entrepreneur, co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer of Crypto.com and Foris, and founder of Particle B and Cronos Labs. ^[1]​^[2]​

Education

Gary graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 2012 with a degree in computer science.^[1]​

Career

Gary Or is a full-stack software engineer with experience in Ruby on Rails, Go, and other web technologies, and has a stated interest in areas such as blockchain, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.^[1] He has worked in organizations such as Foris, EventX, Stepcase, and Inspire Synergy Limited in engineering and technical roles.^[1]​

He was a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Crypto.com and Foris from 2016 to December 2020, during which time Foris operated as a payments and cryptocurrency platform and Crypto.com grew as a multi-currency crypto services platform.^[1]​^[3] In December 2020 he stepped down from his role as CTO of Crypto.com to focus full-time on Particle B, a blockchain startup accelerator he founded.^[2]​^[4] Particle B, announced in December 2020, incubates decentralized finance and other projects built on the Crypto.com Chain as well as the Bitcoin and Ethereum networks, later expanding its activities around the Cronos blockchain.^[2]​^[5]​

Or is also the founder of Cronos Labs, an ecosystem accelerator and investment arm focused on the Cronos blockchain.^[3] Cronos is an Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible chain built with the Cosmos SDK that runs in parallel to the Crypto.org Chain, supporting smart contracts and decentralized applications.^[5]​^[1] Before founding Particle B and Cronos Labs, he held roles including CTO at EventXtra and platform architect and application developer positions at BEECRAZY, Stepcase, and Inspire Synergy Limited.^[1]​^[3]​
