Gillian Wu
Gillian Wu is one of the co-founders of Neptune Mutual, an on-chain parametric cover company. She is also a tech entrepreneur with over ten years of experience in fund management and insurance coverage. [1]
Education
Wu graduated from the Amsterdam School of International Business with a B.A. in international business management in 2003. A year later, she attended Nyenrode Business University and earned her Master’s in financial management. [1]
In 2008, she attended a value investing class at Columbia Business School as an auditor. In 2010, she went to Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford to study international investments. In 2012, she audited a course on the practical history of finance at the University of Edinburgh.[1]
Career
Wu began her career in finance at Cisco, a conglomerate specializing in digital communications, where she worked as a financial analyst from 2004 to 2005. She later moved on to work for Delta Lloyd, an insurance and fund management company, where she worked as a fund manager until 2011. After that, she became the head of the Hong Kong branch until 2017. [1]
In March 2017, she was the CIO of Anbang Insurance Group, a large insurance corporation in China, until 2019, when she became the CEO of Sinohope Asset, formerly Huobi Asset Management, an asset management subsidiary of Sinohope Technology Holdings Ltd., and remained there until February 2022. [1]
In September 2021, Wu joined Binod Nirvan and Edward Ryall in co-founding Neptune Mutual, an on-chain parametric cover company. In January 2022, she founded Mulana Capital, an early-stage investing company for blockchain projects. She also became a DeFi strategic advisor for Mapleblock Capital, a technology-focused blockchain firm. A year later, Mulana Capital became Mulana IM, a platform for vetted virtual assets and Web3 funds. [1]
