Joy Wong is a financial services executive who specializes in institutional sales and relationship management within cryptocurrency markets. Since February 2026 she has served as Global Head of Institutional Sales & Relationship Management at BitMEX, a crypto derivatives exchange, where she leads a team covering high-frequency traders, market makers, asset managers and proprietary trading firms.[1] Her career spans traditional market infrastructure and digital-asset trading venues, and includes earlier roles at OKX, Paradigm, Bullish and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX).[1]
Wong holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mathematics from Imperial College London.[1] Between 2021 and 2023, while working in Hong Kong's institutional sales sector, she pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) in Law at The University of Hong Kong, the professional qualification required for entry into legal practice in the territory.[1]
Wong's professional path moved from the established infrastructure of a regulated securities and derivatives exchange into a succession of cryptocurrency trading platforms, in each case focusing on institutional clients — the professional trading firms, funds and liquidity providers that form the demand side of an exchange's order book.
From April 2016 to March 2021, Wong worked in Institutional, Global Client Development, Markets at HKEX, the operator of Hong Kong's securities and derivatives markets, based in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.[1] Across this five-year period she carried out institutional relationship management, business development and market development, promoting and pitching exchange-traded and listed derivatives products, Hong Kong cash equities, Stock Connect and other China-access channels, and exchange membership to institutional clients.[1] The role involved introducing institutions to the Hong Kong and mainland China markets and helping them onboard across the full trading lifecycle, covering trading, connectivity, and settlement and clearing, as well as broader work on enhancing market structure.[1]
In April 2021 Wong moved into digital assets as Director, Institutional Sales & Relationship Management, Financial Services at Bullish in Hong Kong, a position she held until June 2022.[1] Bullish is described on her profile as a crypto exchange based on an automated market maker (AMM) concept, a model in which trades are priced against pooled liquidity rather than a traditional order book alone, though this characterization is a self-reported description.[1] Her client coverage there spanned both traditional and crypto participants, including quantitative trading firms, proprietary trading desks, hedge funds and asset managers.[1]
Between June and December 2022, Wong served as Director of Institutional Sales at Paradigm in Hong Kong.[1] According to her profile, Paradigm is the largest institutional over-the-counter (OTC) liquidity network in crypto — a venue for negotiating large block trades away from public order books — although this is presented as a self-reported description rather than an independently verified fact.[1]
From December 2022 to February 2026, Wong worked at the cryptocurrency exchange OKX, based in Hong Kong, rising to Deputy Global Head and Head of Institutional Sales and Business Development for Asia.[1] Over three years and three months she grew the Asian business development team from three to ten people, operating as part of a global team of thirty, and worked to expand the firm's base of new clients, new markets and new segments.[1] She also led strategic custody projects and partnerships aimed at driving revenue, trading volume and assets under management (AUM).[1]
Wong joined BitMEX in February 2026 as Global Head of Institutional Sales & Relationship Management.[1] In the role she leads a team of sales and relationship managers responsible for covering high-frequency trading firms, market makers, asset managers and proprietary trading desks — the categories of professional participant that supply the bulk of liquidity on a derivatives exchange.[1] A central part of her mandate is designing liquidity and incentive schemes intended to rebuild the exchange's ecosystem, the structures of fee rebates and market-making arrangements used to attract and retain trading activity.[1]
