Dr. Luzius Meisser is a Swiss computer scientist, economist, entrepreneur, and investor known for his contributions to the Swiss blockchain and cryptocurrency industry. He is a board member of Bitcoin Suisse, a co-founder of the Bitcoin Association Switzerland and the Frankencoin Association, and holds several other key positions in Swiss crypto-related organizations. Luzius Meisser earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Banking and Finance from the University of Zurich, completing his studies between 2016 and 2024. He previously obtained a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Zurich from 2013 to 2015. Earlier in his academic career, Meisser completed a Master of Science in Computer Science at ETH Zurich between 2000 and 2006, including a period of study at Delft University of Technology from 2003 to 2004. Luzius Meisser has held a range of roles across finance, technology, and academia. He has served on the board of Bitcoin Suisse AG since 2017, acting as chairman from 2022 to 2024 before continuing as a board member. He is a co-founder of Aktionariat AG and the founder of Meisser Economics, where he has been active since 2016. Meisser was a board member of the Bitcoin Association Switzerland for a decade and previously advised Alethena on strategic matters. And in 2023, co-founded Frankencoin, a collaterized stablecoin pegged to the Swiss Franc. Earlier in his career, he lectured at FHNW and was a partner at Zeeder, a Zurich-based investor network. He also founded and served as chief technology officer of Wuala, which later became part of LaCie and subsequently Seagate, where he led a cloud research and development team.
