Matthew "Matt" Blumberg is the Head of DeFi at Ondo Finance. He is known for his work in both traditional quantitative finance and the Web3 sector, his public commentary on decentralized finance (DeFi), and as the co-host of a cryptocurrency-focused podcast. Blumberg is also the founder of Left Curve LLC and is active in the crypto community under the online persona "LimitDown Matt". ^{[1] [2] [3]}​

Education

Blumberg attended the University of California, Berkeley, from 2012 to 2016, graduating from the Haas School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. During his time at university, he was involved with Voyager Consulting, a student-run consultancy. He began as a consultant in August 2013 and later served as a project manager for the organization from January to May 2014. ^[2]

Career

Blumberg began his career in traditional finance (TradFi), specializing in quantitative roles, before transitioning to the cryptocurrency and Web3 industry. His early career included internships at Prologis in Shanghai, China from June 2011 to August 2012 and at Value Retail in the summer of 2014. ^[2]​

Traditional Finance

Blumberg's professional career in finance started at BlackRock, one of the world's largest asset managers. He first joined as a summer intern in the Scientific Active Equity group from June to August 2015. After graduating, he returned to BlackRock in a full-time capacity, working as a Quantitative Analyst in the financial modeling group from July 2016 to June 2018. ^[2]​

Following his tenure at BlackRock, Blumberg moved to Marshall Wace, a global alternative investment manager, in July 2018. He worked there as a Quantamental Researcher until March 2022. This role involved combining quantitative analysis with fundamental investment research strategies. Transition to Web3

In 2022, Blumberg transitioned from traditional finance into the Web3 industry. He joined Polygon Labs in April 2022 as a Research Analyst focused on institutional capital. He remained in this role until December 2023, where his work involved research within the Polygon ecosystem aimed at institutional participants. ^{[2] [3]}​

In December 2023, Blumberg was appointed Head of DeFi at Ondo Finance. In this position, he leads the strategy for the company's on-chain products and decentralized finance partnerships. His responsibilities include the design and expansion of Ondo's offerings, which focus on tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs) and bridging traditional financial assets with DeFi protocols. ^{[1] [2]}​

Left Curve LLC

In January 2024, while serving as Head of DeFi at Ondo Finance, Blumberg founded Left Curve LLC. ^[2]​
