Yuzhe Norris Wang is the cofounder and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Balance, a Web3 gaming ecosystem that provides game asset management services across various blockchain networks.
Yuzhe Norris Wang has established himself as a key figure in the Web3 gaming space through his leadership role at Balance. As COO, he helps oversee the development and implementation of Balance's comprehensive ecosystem, which includes the Balance Wallet, Balance Passport, and other tools designed to simplify blockchain game asset management. Wang's work at Balance contributes to the company's mission of building an open, inclusive, and fair gaming ecosystem that leverages blockchain and AI technologies.
Balance, founded by the E-PAL team, aims to transform the gaming industry by creating infrastructure that allows developers to more easily build and promote their games while enabling players to enjoy more diverse and personalized gaming experiences. The company secured $30 million in funding to develop its Web3 experience infrastructure. [1] [2]
Yuzhe Norris Wang pursued his higher education at the University of Melbourne, where he earned a Bachelor of Engineering with Honors in Civil Engineering. His academic journey from 2009 to 2012 equipped him with a foundation in engineering principles and problem-solving skills, which have been instrumental in his professional endeavors. [3]
Yuzhe Norris Wang began his entrepreneurial journey as the Co-Founder and COO of Oasis Pastoral Company, where he gained valuable experience in operational management and business development. This early venture provided him with foundational skills that would later prove valuable in his blockchain and gaming endeavors.
In 2020, Wang co-founded E-Pal alongside Brian Xiong, Tung Pham, and Yuanzhe Li. E-Pal was established as a platform for gamers to hire and play with engaging gamers, creators, and professionals to improve their skills, ensure safe multiplayer sessions, or simply socialize around shared interests. As COO of E-Pal, Wang helped grow the platform to achieve significant user adoption, with the service reporting over 100,000 users by April 2022 and accumulating more than 500,000 downloads on the Google Play store by June 2023.
Building on E-Pal's success in the gaming space, Wang and his co-founders launched Balance as a Web3 extension of their gaming ecosystem. Balance represents a strategic evolution from E-Pal's Web2 foundation into the blockchain gaming sector. The project's development timeline shows rapid progress, with the Balance zkEVM testnet launching in March 2024, followed by the Balance Platform in May 2024, and the mainnet going live in August 2024.
As COO of Balance, Wang helps oversee the company's operations as it continues to expand its Web3 gaming infrastructure. Under his co-leadership, Balance has developed several key products including the Balance Wallet Chrome extension, Balance Passport for unified identity authentication, and an open marketplace for gaming assets. The company has also formed partnerships with over 500 games and integrated AI features into its platform.
Wang has been involved in several successful funding rounds for both E-Pal and Balance. E-Pal secured early investment from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) in a seed funding round in September 2020, followed by a Series A round led by Galaxy Interactive with a16z participating in July 2021.
More recently, Balance raised $30 million from investors including a16z, Galaxy, and others to develop its Web3 gaming infrastructure. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
