Kevin He is the co-founder of Bitlayer, a Bitcoin Layer 2 solution developed to support the Bitcoin Decentralized Finance (BTCFi) ecosystem. He is involved in the strategic direction, technological development, and community engagement for the project. [1]
Kevin He earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Engineering from Tianjin University and a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Software Engineering from Peking University. [6]
Kevin He is a technology entrepreneur and blockchain developer with experience spanning software engineering, public blockchain architecture, and decentralized finance (DeFi) infrastructure.
He began his career in 2010 at Kaixinren Information Technology, where he held roles ranging from engineer to technology manager, contributing to the development of social and mobile games, including Happy City, one of China’s early large-scale social games. From 2013 to 2017, he co-founded Bugtags, a SaaS platform providing testing and task management tools for app developers. The platform reached significant adoption, serving tens of thousands of enterprise users and millions of daily active devices.
In 2018, He joined YOUChain as Chief Architect, where he led the design and launch of its public blockchain. His work included overseeing research and development, building community engagement through technical publications, and contributing patents and open-source tools.
From 2020 to 2022, he served as Senior Technical Director at Huobi, leading research and development efforts for the Huobi Eco Chain (HECO) and other decentralized applications. He directed teams that built public chain infrastructure, cross-chain bridges, and applications across sectors such as NFTs, GameFi, and decentralized exchanges.
He subsequently became Vice President of Technology at New Huo Tech (formerly Sinohope) from late 2022 to early 2024, managing product and engineering for digital asset custody and wallet infrastructure.
In 2024, He co-founded Bitlayer, a project developing BitVM-based solutions to expand Bitcoin’s role in decentralized finance. [1] [5] [6]
On March 29, 2025, Kevin He appeared on the Built on Bitcoin podcast, where he discussed his career in blockchain architecture, the origins of Bitlayer, and the development of BitVM technology.
