Trevor Traina

Trevor Traina is an American technology entrepreneur, investor and former diplomat. He served as the United States ambassador to Austria from 2018 to 2021. He is the founder and CEO of Kresus Labs, chief business officer at Tools for Humanity and vice chair of the Presidio Trust Board of Directors. ^{[4] [8] [9]}

Education

Traina earned a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, a special diploma in social studies from St Catherine’s College at Oxford and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. ^{[3] [9]}

Technology Career

Traina co-founded CompareNet while studying at UC Berkeley Haas. Microsoft acquired the comparison-shopping company in 1999. His later business roles included chairman of StepUp Commerce, which Intuit acquired in 2006, and founder of IfOnly, which was subsequently acquired by Mastercard. ^{[4] [7] [8] [9]}

U.S. Ambassador to Austria

In January 2018, President Donald Trump announced his intent to nominate Traina as United States ambassador to Austria. The Senate confirmed him on March 22, 2018. He was appointed on March 29, assumed charge on May 18 and presented his credentials to Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen on May 24. Traina served through January 2021. ^{[2] [3] [5] [6]}

Kresus Labs and Tools for Humanity

After his diplomatic service, Traina founded Kresus Labs, a San Francisco-based blockchain technology company. The company’s current leadership page identifies him as founder and CEO. ^{[2] [4]}

In 2024, Tools for Humanity named Traina head of global affairs and business development. By 2025, he was serving as chief business officer, a title also listed by the Presidio Trust in 2026. ^[9]
