History

Dutch Blockchain Week was founded in 2019, with its public presence established in April of that year.[2] Since its inception, the event has expanded its program and partnerships over successive editions, adapting to global circumstances and adjusting its focus to meet the needs of the industry.

The inaugural event in 2019 was a small gathering at the Venturerock Office in Amsterdam, intended to connect the local Dutch ecosystem. A key event during the first series was an interoperability meetup held on June 7, 2019, which featured speakers from hybrix, VodafoneZiggo, and Unibright.[2]

In 2020, the second edition expanded its format, transitioning to a hybrid online-offline model in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This edition was hosted at the ABN AMRO Headquarters in Amsterdam and included the Dutch Blockchain Awards, organized in partnership with Computable.nl and BCNL.[2] The hybrid format continued for the third edition in 2021, which used three separate studios to expand its international reach.

The fourth edition in 2022, held at the EY office in Amsterdam, focused on building partnerships with exchanges, regulators, and fintech leaders. In 2023, the event was hosted at ASML in Eindhoven, with discussions centering on , compliance, and market evolution. A significant development occurred in 2024 when Dutch Blockchain Days merged with Dutch Blockchain Week. This consolidation created a single, unified event at the Meervaart in Amsterdam that brought together thousands of professionals from finance, technology, and sectors. The seventh edition in 2025 continued at the Meervaart in Amsterdam.

2026 Edition (8th Edition)

The eighth edition of Dutch Blockchain Week took place from June 22–28, 2026 in Amsterdam. Themed "Beyond Borders," this edition was one of the largest to date and featured two multi-day conferences: the Dutch Blockchain Week Summit and the Summit. The flagship DBW Summit took place on June 24–25, 2026 at the Johan Cruijff ArenA and offered two full days of panels, deep dives, and networking for institutions, founders, policymakers, and professionals involved in digital assets.[3] the week, DBW26 hosted more than 40 side events alongside these summits, featuring participation from exchanges, banks, regulators, market makers, funds, and other institutional and digital asset organizations.
