With as little as 10 minutes of daily gameplay, participants can earn in-game currency (OYAB) to progress, while long-term strategic planning is required for greater success. [1]
Oyabun is a Web3 mobile game set in a manga-inspired cyber-yakuza universe. Players immerse themselves in this world by assuming the roles of cyber-yakuza, training and upgrading their characters to enhance their abilities. Through battles, they challenge others to demonstrate strength and earn rewards. Daily gameplay of just 10 minutes allows players to earn in-game currency (OYAB) for character progression, while long-term strategic planning is essential for achieving significant success. Set in Neo Tokyo, the game’s narrative introduces players to a world dominated by cyber-yakuza clans, where power, loyalty, and honor define success. Every decision and action contributes to the ongoing history of Oyabun, creating an immersive and dynamic experience. [2]
The gameplay is structured around three core components: Fight Missions, Street Missions, and Recruitment & Upgrade.
Fight missions are automated battles where cyber-yakuza characters fight against robots or other players to earn in-game currency (OYAB) and Experience Points (XP). Success depends on factors such as the cyber-yakuza's attributes, item usage, and clan affiliation. Players must manage their cyber-yakuza’s fight energy, which is replenished using in-game tokens, and strategize based on their character's strengths, items, and clan bonuses to maximize rewards. [3]
Street missions involve cyber-yakuza walking outdoors to earn in-game currency (OYAB) and possibly discover "rob boxes" containing valuable items. Each energy bar allows for a 2-minute walking session, and energy replenishes over time. The mission requires meeting walking criteria, such as distance and steps. Cyber-yakuza must participate in at least one battle per day to avoid penalties affecting energy regeneration. Walk juice, which depletes with each mission, must be maintained to maximize earnings. The rewards depend on the cyber-yakuza's rarity, level, and energy spent. [4]
Cyber-Yakuza Recruitment involves combining two existing cyber-yakuza to create a new one. Each cyber-yakuza can participate in up to five recruitments, with increasing costs for each subsequent recruitment. A cyber-yakuza must be level 5 to recruit. The recruitment process has a rarity probability, with a higher chance of obtaining a common cyber-yakuza when using two common ones. Clan affiliation also affects the probability of the new cyber-yakuza's clan. The base attributes of a cyber-yakuza depend on its rarity, and each has a set number of item slots based on its clan and random assignment. [5]
Cyber-Yakuza NFTs serve as the foundation for gameplay, offering players the opportunity to enter the futuristic underworld of Neo Tokyo. Players assume the role of cyber-yakuza, enhancing their characters to excel in battles and establish dominance in the struggle for power. Each NFT has four rarities, attributes, and clans. Players can explore a range of cyber-yakuza NFTs to shape their roles and progress within the game. [6]
The game introduces six distinct cyber-yakuza characters at launch, each available in different levels of rarity, adding variety and strategic options to the gameplay. [6]
Cyber-yakuza upgrades involve using three cyber-yakuza of the same rarity to create a new, rarer cyber-yakuza. The resulting character inherits characteristics from the original cyber-yakuza, with upgrade probabilities influencing the outcome. For example, using three common cyber-yakuza gives a 96% chance of getting a rare cyber-yakuza and a 4% chance of getting an epic one. Clan affiliation affects the upgraded character’s clan, with equal probability for each of the three clans involved. The base attributes of the upgraded cyber-yakuza depend on its rarity, and each one comes with an item slot assigned by its clan and additional random slots. [8]
Items have an important role in shaping the cyber-yakuza’s combat strategy, with three main categories: weapons, biotech, and martial arts. To gain an advantage in battles, players must acquire, upgrade, and equip these items, optimizing their setups for success. Items can be obtained by either acquiring "rob boxes" during street missions or purchasing them from other players in the marketplace.
Equipping powerful items boosts a player’s chances of winning fights by adding bonus points to their cyber-yakuza’s attributes: Strength, Aggressivity, or Instinct. Each clan also receives exclusive bonuses based on their associated item type—Dragon Clan benefits from weapons, Oni Clan from biotech, and Lotus Clan from martial arts. Additionally, players can earn extra bonus points by discovering and using specific item combinations, called combos, which provide further advantages. [9]
Item upgrades allow players to enhance the power of their cyber-yakuza by combining three identical items. The process involves selecting an upgrade level (+1, +2, or +3) with varying chances of success. For example, a +1 upgrade has a 90% success rate, a +2 upgrade has a 40% chance, and a +3 upgrade has a 25% chance. If successful, the player receives one upgraded item, while the other two are burned. In case of failure, only one of the three items is retained, and the other two are lost. [10]
Avatars NFTs enhance the cyber-yakuza’s luck during street missions, providing various luck boosts depending on their rarity. Players can accumulate luck boosts from up to five avatars, with common avatars offering a 5% boost, rare avatars a 7% boost, and epic avatars a 10% boost. [11]
Tattoo NFTs play a crucial role in recruiting new cyber-yakuza, helping to regulate the number of NFTs in circulation and maintain a balanced in-game economy. Players need one tattoo for each recruitment, with the distribution of tattoos determined by market demand. Tattoos can be obtained by acquiring "rob boxes" during street missions or purchasing them from other players in the marketplace. [12]
Rob Boxes are valuable rewards that can be found during a cyber-yakuza's daily street missions, offering items, tattoos, or OYAB. The chances of finding a rob box are influenced by the rarity, level, and luck of the cyber-yakuza, as well as the amount of energy spent on missions. There are five box levels, each with different rewards, and players can speed up the opening process by burning OYAB in-game currency. [13]
Discovery Mode allows players to explore the OYABUN universe without needing a cyber-yakuza NFT. It offers a comprehensive introduction to the game’s mechanics, enabling players to engage in Street and Fight Missions, earn in-game currency (OYAB), find Rob Boxes, level up to 10, and allocate attribute points. However, tokens and Rob Boxes remain locked in this mode.
Players can transition to the full NFT-based experience at any time by importing a cyber-yakuza NFT, unlocking previously earned tokens and Rob Boxes. Completing three key missions in Discovery Mode—reaching level 10, equipping and using a free item in combat, and earning 300 OYAB—prepares players for full gameplay.
Certain features, such as NFT transfers, token withdrawals, and advanced gameplay mechanics like Combine, Recruit, and Upgrade, require NFT ownership. Rewards in Discovery Mode are limited to a maximum of 300 OYAB, with a delayed unlocking of tokens and Rob Boxes when transitioning to NFT gameplay. [14]
FURI is the central token within OYABUN's gaming ecosystem, designed for interoperability across its Web3 games that incorporate AI and AR technologies. It has a fixed supply of 1 billion tokens and employs burn mechanisms to encourage engagement in its manga-inspired games. FURI is deflationary and can be swapped for BUN, which is utilized for in-game activities. [15]
FURI has a max supply of 1B tokens and has the following distribution: [15]
OYAB is the in-game currency earned through Street and Fight missions. It has an unlimited supply, operates off-chain, and is used until players reach level 50. Players can swap OYAB for BUN within the game. The token remains off-chain and will not be listed externally but serves as a convertible asset for in-game transactions. [16] [17]
BUN is a deflationary governance token earned by players once their cyber-yakuza NFT reaches level 50. It is used for strategic in-game activities such as breeding, combining, and upgrading. Forty percent of the token supply is allocated to players. BUN operates on-chain and has not yet been listed for trading. [16] [17]
