Calvin Kizana is an Indonesian technology entrepreneur and business executive who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Tokocrypto, an Indonesia-based cryptocurrency exchange. His career spans telecommunications, software development, digital platforms, consumer technology, and blockchain, with experience founding and leading technology companies as well as holding executive positions at major technology firms. ^[6]

Education

Kizana graduated from BINUS University with a degree in Computer Science in 1995. He then earned his MBA from the Institut Pengembangan Manajemen Indonesia in 2008. ^[3]

Career

Kizana began his career as Chief Technology Officer at Batavianet in 1995 before joining inTouch Wireless Services in Singapore as a Senior Wireless System Developer in 1997. In 1999, he moved to the United States to work as a Senior Web Developer and Flash Programmer at eonBusiness, followed by a role as Senior Manager of e-Business for the Pacific Rim at E-Commedia from 2000 to 2002, where he worked on digital business initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region.

In 2002, Kizana founded Elasitas Technologies and served as Chief Executive Officer until 2012. The company developed mobile solutions and services for telecommunications operators, mobile device manufacturers, and digital content providers, while establishing partnerships with companies and operators across Asia, Europe, and North America. During this period, he led business strategy, client relationships, and international expansion while overseeing the company's growth and operations.

Kizana founded PT. In 2012, joined Inovidea Magna Global and served as its Chief Executive Officer until 2020, leading the development of PicMix, a mobile photo-sharing platform, and later expanding its technology toward blockchain-based infrastructure. Alongside this role, he co-founded Project Eden in 2011, an early-stage investment and startup support initiative focused on Indonesia's technology ecosystem, where he remained involved until 2022.

In 2020, Kizana joined Gojek as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Platform for GoPlay, overseeing platform operations until 2022. He subsequently served as the Country Head of WhatsApp Indonesia at Meta from 2022 to 2023, leading the company's operations and partnerships in Indonesia. In January 2025, he became Chief Executive Officer of Tokocrypto, where he is responsible for the cryptocurrency exchange's strategic direction and business operations. ^[4]

In a May 2025 interview with Kompas, Calvin Kizana, CEO of Tokocrypto, discussed the development of the cryptocurrency industry and its role in future financial systems. Kizana also described his personal investment approach, noting a portfolio allocation focused primarily on stablecoins and established assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and XRP, with a smaller portion allocated to higher-risk trading opportunities in emerging payment technologies and digital innovation.

Kizana highlighted the growth of Indonesia’s crypto market, citing increased regulatory involvement and industry education efforts through collaborations with institutions such as the Financial Services Authority (OJK). He emphasized the importance of public education to address risks such as scams and misleading investment schemes, while noting Indonesia’s growing position in global crypto adoption and trading activity. In a March 2025 interview with BellPods, Kizana discussed his background in technology, his early interest in cryptocurrency dating back to 2014, and his appointment as CEO of Tokocrypto in 2025. He described how his technical background and experience building startups and working with technology companies in Indonesia and the United States influenced his interest in blockchain and digital assets. Kizana also discussed the transition of cryptocurrency oversight from BAPPEBTI to the Financial Services Authority (OJK), describing regulatory development as an important step toward increasing trust and supporting industry growth.

Kizana emphasized the importance of education and digital asset literacy in expanding cryptocurrency adoption in Indonesia, highlighting Tokocrypto’s efforts through events and online educational initiatives. He noted that Indonesia’s market still has significant room for growth, given its relatively low crypto adoption relative to the country’s population and economy. He also outlined Tokocrypto’s focus on regulatory compliance, security, product development, and partnerships with financial institutions, including potential applications for digital payments.
