Henry Chang is a South Korean gaming executive who has served as CEO of NEXUS since 2025. His career has included executive positions at WEMADE, WEMIX, Neowiz Mobile, and NEOWIZ, following an early career at NEXON Korea. [1]
Chang graduated from Seoul National University with a BA in Business Adminstration in 1997. He later earned his Master’s in Management Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 1999. [2]
Chang joined NEXON Korea in 1996, where he worked until 1999. He subsequently joined NEOWIZ, serving as CFO from 2008 to 2011, before becoming CEO of Neowiz Mobile from 2011 to 2013. He later became CEO of WEMADE in 2014, a position he held through 2024 while the company developed and expanded its blockchain gaming activities. From 2019 to 2024, Chang also served as CEO of WEMIX, WEMADE’s blockchain gaming platform. During this period, WEMIX developed infrastructure for integrating blockchain technology into games, including token economies and NFTs, and launched the WEMIX 3.0 mainnet for blockchain-based game services. In 2025, Chang became CEO of NEXUS, a South Korean blockchain gaming company focused on developing the ONE Protocol (formerly CROSS Protocol) for digital asset ownership and blockchain-based gaming infrastructure. [3]
In a March 2025 interview with Be(in)Crypto, Chang discussed NEXUS and ONE Protocol (formerly CROSS), a blockchain gaming framework designed to allow individual games to issue their own tokens and represent in-game assets on-chain. He described the protocol as providing standardized smart contract templates, SDKs, and APIs intended to simplify blockchain integration for game developers, while enabling players to own, transfer, and trade game assets. The framework also included interoperability and bridging infrastructure to support asset transfers across games and blockchain networks, with QBFT consensus and dynamic gas fee delegation used for network operations. Chang also discussed the CROSS token, which was intended to support transactions, in-game purchases, asset trading, player rewards, staking, and developer monetization within the ecosystem. He identified the Opengame Foundation as a Swiss nonprofit supporting ecosystem development, research and development, developer programs, and regulatory compliance, including alignment with the EU's MiCA framework. The interview also covered efforts to attract traditional game developers to blockchain technology, planned game launches including Dragon Flight, Ragnarok: Monster World, and Rappelz M, and challenges facing blockchain gaming such as scalability, regulatory requirements, user adoption, and the need to make blockchain systems accessible to developers and players.
