Justin Vendetta

Justin Vendetta is a software and blockchain developer with a background in cryptocurrency infrastructure, network administration, and blockchain engineering. He is the founder and lead software developer of Verge Currency, and previously worked as a blockchain engineer at Crypto Fantasy Sports and as a network administrator for the GoldMin.es cryptocurrency mining pool. ^[3]

Career

Vendetta began his career in cryptocurrency infrastructure as a Network Administrator at GoldMin.es Crypto Mining Pool, where he worked from August 2012 to July 2016. He later worked as a Blockchain Engineer at Crypto Fantasy Sports in California from September to December 2016. In October 2014, Vendetta founded Verge Currency, where he has served as Founder and Lead Software Developer. His work at Verge has focused on developing the project’s blockchain and associated software, including its open-source infrastructure. ^[1]

In a March 2020 interview on the Crypto Coin Show, Vendetta discussed his early interest in programming and his progression into cryptocurrency development. He began programming at a young age, writing BASIC programs by 12, and started exploring Bitcoin in 2011 before examining the source code of other cryptocurrencies in 2012. In 2014, Vendetta launched a cryptocurrency mining pool, adding support for multiple coins and assisting other developers, which led to his deeper involvement in Verge's development. He described Verge as a community-driven, nonprofit-oriented project that avoided ICOs and pre-mines, emphasized collaboration and accessibility, and explained that its Bitcoin-based architecture uses five mining algorithms and includes privacy features such as Tor and stealth addresses. The discussion also covered Verge’s emphasis on decentralized mining, contributions from its open-source community, planned wallets and software updates, and the protocol's potential to support applications beyond payments, including transactions that contain additional data and smart-contract functionality. ^[2]
