AB DAO, previously known as the Newton DAO, is a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), formerly known as the Newton Project, focused on building a decentralized, interoperable blockchain ecosystem that integrates real-world assets. [1]
AB DAO seeks to establish a decentralized blockchain environment designed for interoperability. Its primary objective involves integrating real-world assets (RWAs) into the blockchain space. By applying decentralized finance (DeFi) principles, the organization aims to enhance accessibility and connectivity within the blockchain ecosystem. The focus on RWAs is intended to connect traditional financial systems with blockchain technology. The organization has undergone developments to evolve into its current structure as a decentralized autonomous organization. [1] [3]
The transition from Newton DAO to AB DAO on February 10th, 2025 marks a shift toward decentralized governance and infrastructure modernization. In response to the BNB Beacon Chain shutdown at the end of 2024, AB DAO developed a cross-chain migration solution enabling users to transfer their legacy NEW-09E tokens (now $AB) from the BNB Beacon Chain to the AB mainnet. This migration addresses the risk posed by over 65 million unmigrated tokens, ensuring holders retain access to their assets.
The rebranding to AB DAO reflects a broader strategy to implement community-driven governance. Token holders are now empowered to propose and vote on platform decisions, promoting transparency and collective control. As part of its future roadmap, AB DAO plans to expand DeFi tools, enable further cross-chain compatibility, and enhance NFT integration—positioning the project for broader adoption and ecosystem growth. [2] [6]
The ecosystem's native token is the AB token, which is replacing the previous NEW token. The NewPay 1.9.0 update was released to support this transition. AB DAO launched a global campaign offering users the opportunity to claim 65 million AB tokens, valued at approximately $1 million. [1]
In May 2025, the AB Foundation and AB Blockchain co-hosted the first “Tech-driven Global Philanthropy Closed-door Forum” in Dublin, Ireland, bringing together former heads of state, lawmakers, and experts to explore the role of advanced technologies in reshaping global philanthropy. The event focused on how blockchain and AI can enhance transparency and trust in charitable initiatives.
Chaired by Bertie Ahern, former Prime Minister of Ireland and Chair of the AB Foundation, the forum highlighted AB Blockchain’s technical contributions, including its high-performance mainnet, AB Connect cross-chain system, and the Universal Transfer zero-gas stablecoin protocol. These tools are intended to provide compliant, efficient infrastructure for philanthropic use.
The AB Foundation, legally registered in Ireland and supported by AB DAO, continues to promote tech-enabled philanthropy across education, healthcare, environmental protection, and humanitarian relief. Insights from the forum are being shared with international partners to encourage the development of global, technology-based philanthropic standards. [5]
In March 2025, AB DAO entered a strategic partnership with Alpha Technology Group Limited (Nasdaq: ATGL) to advance the integration of artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies. The collaboration focuses on applying these technologies across sectors such as supply chain management, enterprise operations, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Alpha Technology contributes AI expertise, particularly in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems that enhance automation and operational efficiency. AB DAO brings its blockchain infrastructure capabilities, including its AB IoT network and developed products like smart energy meters and secure storage systems. Together, the partnership seeks to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient solutions across industrial applications. [4]
