Tapiero graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor’s in History in 1990 and a Master’s in 1991. [1] [4]
Tapiero began his career in global macro investing, working as a Global Macro Portfolio Manager for firms and investment organizations including Tiger Management, Steinhardt Partners, SAC Capital, and Duquesne Capital Management from 1992 to 2012. His work focused on global macro trading and investment. In 2003, Tapiero founded DTAP Capital LLC, an investment firm focused on global macro strategies. He later co-founded AGCoA in 2006, a U.S. farmland REIT, and Gold Bullion International in 2009, a company focused on the sale and storage of physical gold. In 2021, Tapiero founded both 10T Holdings and 50T Funds, expanding his investment activities into private equity and the digital-asset ecosystem. He serves as Founder, CEO, and CIO of 50T Funds. [2] [3]
In a June 2026 interview on the When Shift Happens podcast, Tapiero discussed the challenges of building and preserving wealth in crypto, emphasizing the discipline, conviction, and resilience required to navigate volatility after periods of rapid gains. Drawing on his macro investment experience, he argued that blockchain could become a dominant part of money and finance, with real-world assets and tokenization serving as major areas of growth, and projected the broader digital-asset ecosystem could reach a $50 trillion valuation within a decade. Tapiero also discussed the importance of macroeconomic foresight, extensive diligence, and accepting uncertainty when making long-term investments, particularly in Bitcoin, while describing the psychological dynamics and profit-taking patterns that shape market cycles. He reflected on raising capital during different market conditions and maintaining disciplined investment practices during downturns, before outlining his long-term expectations for Bitcoin, Ethereum, altcoins, and the tokenization of traditional assets. In a June 2026 interview on The Wolf of All Streets Podcast, Tapiero discussed what he viewed as a major transformation of the financial system driven by stablecoins, tokenized assets, blockchain infrastructure, and autonomous AI agents. He argued that stablecoins could become a primary medium of exchange for AI agents, while Bitcoin would remain a core store of value, and noted continued institutional investment in digital-asset payments and financial infrastructure. Tapiero emphasized established companies such as Coinbase, Ledger, and Kraken that are expanding into AI and agent-based finance, arguing that mature companies building financial infrastructure could be better positioned than speculative projects. The discussion also covered prediction markets and their potential to generate useful information through market participation, as well as the role of blockchain transparency in supporting a future with large volumes of autonomous transactions. In a March 2026 interview on the 1000x Podcast at the Digital Asset Summit, Tapiero discussed the evolution of 50T Funds and its shift toward growth-stage investments in larger, revenue-generating cryptocurrency companies, with a focus on longer-term returns rather than speculative assets such as meme coins. He discussed the increasing institutionalization of crypto through ETFs, corporate holdings of Bitcoin and Ethereum, and the expected expansion of on-chain value transfer and real-world asset tokenization over the coming decade. Tapiero also noted the growth in the number of investable crypto companies, while describing valuation expectations among some founders as a challenge for investors seeking attractive opportunities. He highlighted the growing importance of the U.S. market in global crypto trading and maintained a positive long-term view of Bitcoin and Ethereum despite short-term market declines. The discussion concluded with his outlook on blockchain infrastructure supporting autonomous AI agents capable of managing assets and transferring value, which he viewed as a potentially significant application of crypto technology.
