Education

Sean Bennett attended St Bede's College for his secondary education before pursuing tertiary studies in New Zealand. He earned a Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Otago and later completed a Bachelor of Business in Finance at Massey University. In addition to his academic qualifications, Bennett obtained an Associate Diploma (ATCL) in Music Performance from Trinity College London. ^[1]

Sean Bennett has worked across software development, financial technology, and blockchain-based payments. Early in his career, he worked as a software developer and later served as Lead Developer for analytics at leanStream between 2012 and 2014.

In 2014, Bennett founded Coinex Gateway, a platform that facilitated the movement of fiat currencies into and out of blockchain networks such as Ripple and Stellar. The venture focused on integrating traditional payment systems with distributed ledger technology while incorporating compliance measures, including identity verification and anti-money-laundering procedures.

Bennett subsequently co-founded SureComply in 2015, serving as Chief Technology Officer until 2017 and later continuing as an advisor. The company developed cloud-based compliance and skills-management software for regulated industries, with Bennett overseeing technical architecture and system integration initiatives.

Since 2017, Bennett has been a co-founder of Stronghold, a financial technology company that provides payment infrastructure, including ACH, real-time payment, and digital currency solutions. During his tenure, he was involved in the development and integration of a U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin on the Stellar network for IBM’s Blockchain World Wire payment platform, which enabled fiat currency settlement through the network. ^{[1] [4] [2]}
