Wendy Fu is a software engineer and technology entrepreneur with a background in blockchain infrastructure and software development. She is the founder of Momentum, a DeFi infrastructure project focused on decentralized trading, liquid staking, treasury management, and tokenized asset markets. [3]
Fu earned her BEng in Electrical and Computational Engineering from Zhejiang University. She later earned her Master’s in Computer Engineering and Operations Research in Industrial & System Engineering in 2016. [5]
Fu began her professional experience with a research internship at Eaton in 2015, followed by a software development internship at Amazon in 2016, where she worked on AWS EC2 load balancing. She joined Facebook as a software engineer in 2017, working on the Facebook application, and later became a senior software engineer on Facebook’s Libra project, where she worked from 2019 to 2023. Her work at Libra placed her in the development of blockchain-related technology within Facebook’s digital currency initiative.
In August 2022, Fu founded Momentum, where she has served as founder while transitioning from her engineering roles at Facebook and Libra. Momentum has developed infrastructure across decentralized exchanges, liquid staking, treasury management, token launches, automated DeFi strategies, and tokenized real-world assets, with its initial focus on the Sui and broader Move ecosystems. In an October 2025 episode of the When Shift Happens podcast, Fu discussed her transition from academia to Meta and Libra before founding Momentum, describing the company’s goal of developing a decentralized trading platform that could connect crypto and traditional financial assets globally. She noted that Momentum had launched a spot DEX less than six months earlier and had accumulated more than 1.1 billion in trading volume. Fu explained that the company planned to build its user base before expanding into additional asset classes and financial products, while using decentralized infrastructure to operate across geographic markets without the regional restrictions associated with centralized exchanges. She also discussed the use of the Move programming language for developing secure on-chain applications and Momentum’s relationship with the Sui ecosystem. Looking ahead, Fu described Momentum’s objective of creating a universal trading platform that could integrate KYC and compliance requirements across assets and blockchains, connecting cryptocurrency markets with traditional finance.
