Yale Blockchain Club (YBC) is a student-led organization at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. It serves as the university's primary hub for students interested in blockchain technology, focusing on education, development, and career advancement. The club provides a platform for education, project collaboration, and networking for the Yale student community. [1]
The club's official mission is "To educate, empower, and bring together the next generation of Yalies through blockchain technology" and "To build a community of driven and innovative students who want to build a better future." [2] Its operations are guided by taglines including "Yale's premier undergraduate organization for blockchain-related education, development, and career advancement" and "Fostering Innovation, Cultivating Careers, and Shaping the Future of Blockchain." [1] [3] The club's activities are structured around several core pillars: education, founder support, career opportunities, and development. [3] [1]
YBC runs regular educational programs for students at all levels of expertise. It hosts workshop series on technical topics such as Solidity smart contract development, Decentralized Finance (DeFi) fundamentals, and Zero-Knowledge (ZK) proofs. The club also produces and publishes research reports and articles on its Medium publication. Authored by club members, these pieces analyze topics including Layer 2 scaling solutions, on-chain identity, and the tokenomics of governance protocols. [1]
The organization includes a development arm where members collaborate on building blockchain projects, such as decentralized applications (dApps). Club members also a make contributions to open-source protocols. Members are active participants in and represent Yale at various blockchain-focused competitions and hackathons, at both the collegiate and industry-wide levels. [1]
YBC serves as a career hub, connecting students with internship and full-time employment opportunities at crypto-native companies, venture capital funds, and research organizations. A key component of this effort is its speaker series, which features founders, developers, venture capitalists, and researchers from the blockchain industry to provide students with direct industry insights and networking opportunities. The organization also identifies founder support as a core pillar of its mission, providing resources and a supportive environment for students developing their own blockchain-based projects. [1] [3]
The Yale Blockchain Club is managed by a student executive board and an advisor. For the 2025-2026 academic year, the club's leadership includes Eunice Han as President, Daniel Yim as Vice-President, and Mateo Bastidas as Advisor. The board structure typically includes distinct roles such as Head of Education, Head of Development, and Head of Marketing to manage the club's various initiatives. [2] [1]
The club organizes several major recurring initiatives to support its mission.
The club's flagship event is the Annual Yale Blockchain Conference, hosted at the Yale School of Management. The conference convenes a diverse group of industry professionals, academics, and students to discuss the latest trends and applications in the field. [3]
A recent conference held on April 4th was centered on the theme of "Blockchain Applications Across Industries." The event's objective was to showcase the technology's utility beyond finance in sectors such as art, gaming, Artificial Intelligence, and supply chain management. The event featured over 45 speakers, including a keynote address from Mike Belshe, CEO of BitGo, and drew more than 250 attendees. Panel discussions covered topics including Decentralized AI (DeAI), Decentralized Science (DeSci), the evolving crypto policy environment, and venture capital investment trends. The conference also included a startup showcase that highlighted emerging projects like CreditPhi, Morphic, and Solo. [3]
The conference was co-chaired by Austin Cai and Vicky Kuang. Other organizers and members associated with the event included Tamara Gruslova, Siddharth Arun, Mateo Bastidas, Wendy Li, Amy Choi, and Eunice Han. [3]
YBC regularly holds a Solidity bootcamp, a recurring workshop series designed to teach Yale students the fundamentals of smart contract development on the Ethereum blockchain. In addition to workshops, the club maintains an active blog on Medium where members author articles and research deep-dives on a variety of blockchain-related subjects. These publications serve as a key educational output for the organization. [1]
As an officially registered student organization at Yale University, YBC utilizes university resources such as Yale Connect for member management and the Office of Career Strategy (OCS) for outreach and official recognition. [1] [2] The club also fosters relationships with corporate and industry partners by collaborating on sponsored workshops, hackathons, and speaker events. Through its annual conference, it has established connections with prominent figures and companies in the blockchain space. [3]
